DuoMaxwell5, since you are so close, your best bet would be to go pick it up like Matt is doing. The rear bumpers are much easier to make than the front bumpers as well. The design doesn't really change between the different companies. If you decide to go with it, ask to speak with Kyle. All of the people that seem to have had good experiences dealt with him. Make sure that you know what you want, and you should be fine.

The only stories I've heard about them was production/shipping time.

I love my TAG/KMA front bumper. If you are willing to wait, they make a quality product at a fair price. If you double whaever time the quote you for production, you won't be disapointed.

I have a KMA (currently TAG) rear bumper on my Frontier and I'll be honest, it's crap.

There's Bondo around the weld seams.
The hitch is far too inboard on the bumper.
The curves under the tail lights are were done with a grinder thus not smooth nor symmetrical.
The mounting brackets (read: angle iron with holes drilled in) didn't line up at all with the holes in the frame.
The extra I paid for the LED lighting is dimmer than my iPhone's LED light.

Considering what I got, how long I waited, and what I paid. I feel a bit jipped and wish I had just waited for Shrock. It still looks good and better than stock, but I could have done a lot more for what I paid. YMMV.

Peck I hear what you're saying and I agree that if it in fact isn't built to your specifications then you won't be happy with it. As far as the bondo, while I was there getting my bumper installed they were working on several other bumpers. The welds were very thorough some were even a bit overkill and it seemed as though the bondo was only being used to make the edges smoother for a better finished look. As far as my bumper it fit perfect and everything so far seems good to go. I will say I have no idea who worked there when you bought yours but Kyle was knowledgable and easy to deal with. Shrockworks is a very high quality product as well though to so it really is your preference.

I ordered mine raw steel and looked after the finishing myself, and nowhere on my bumper did they use angle iron, it's all plate steel welded. There certainly were a few welds that IMO were a little on the rough side, but I knew it was not a production bumper, it's a custom bumper.

It's probably safe to assume they went through some business problems, aka name change and all.. I bought my bumper.... 3 years ago I think, maybe 4, so it could be prior to any pains they may have gone through. With few companies supporting our brand/model for this type of mod, I'd rather see them fix their issues and provide a good product, rather than fail.

For now I would avoid TAG. I am having an issue with them and they are not handling it professionally. If something changes I will update, but they are not practicing good business ethics. Very misleading and avoiding.

It's official DON'T BUY TAG, you have been warned. You will be disappointed. Wait for a Shrockworks, hefty, or RLC.

You can't post that without a explanation.....I'm assuming TAG is KMA? I had a good friend of mine go to KMA and have them do his bumper, he said it was so much trouble, aggravating, and they did a sh*tty job on the bumper for him. He ended up abandoning the bumper (luckily he only paid half up front so he kept his other half) and went a different custom route.

I wouldn't even trust KMA/TAG for anything and I'd rather see them fail than give misleading/shoddy services consistently while robbing our wallets.

There are three major things that they did. They wired the tag light wrong, they cut off my trailer harness because they said it wouldnt fit. It is currently installed and fits fine. They also used a $5 can of Duplicolor rattle can bed liner that I paid $100 for. The bumper is two weeks old and already is showing rust, has bare metal spots from where the coating peeled off. They also did not primer it like they said they would. When confronted the owner continuously avoided the request of a refund and finally just said no. So now I am having to pull the bumper off to have it line-x coated. The mere fact that he wouldn't accept responsibility for his actions is bad enough, but the headache of dealing with them and correcting their errors is just not worth it. That is the short version. Below is the picture of the wiring as they left it after I left.

damn, they really butchered up that wiring there....

therefore, my previous post still stands, backed up by the post above with pics as proof.

Matt, you need to notify TNX of this to prevent any potential buyers from going to TAG!

Wow, I really hate to see that done to your X Matt! If that is your stock wiring harness that's cut, then that is completely unacceptable! There are adapters for EVERYTHING, there should be no reason to cut and splice a factory harness. I didn't even cut speaker wires when I upgraded speakers, I salvaged the plugs from the old speakers and fabbed them to the new ones. Just so I didn't have to cut factory wiring! That is just lazy and unprofessional!

Well Ryan and I are working on getting everything squared away. The bumper is off and going to get line-x coating tomorrow. Then we are going to fix the wiring.

I bought KMA/TAG because of some of the pictures out in the forums, the quality appeared to be there. Then again, you know how pictures are. The difference in Shrock and TAG is very clear if you've seen both, unfinished, and next to each other.

Sorry you're having problems Matt, I hope you get it resolved soon and not out a single dime.

When I bought my TAG I bought it for the wait time, and I got it shipped bare steel so that I could paint it myself. The problem is that they don't clean the shipping grease off of the steel before they paint it. The actual build quality on Matts is pretty good. The only issue I forsee is the latch, so we may try to work something else in that will make it a little sturdier.

My main issue with TAG is their customer service. Its just amazing to me that they are willing to put their reputation on the line for a $100 bedliner coating that they failed to install correctly.

Regardless, when I do my tire carrier / winch rear bumper, it will not be through TAG.

That is so sad to see. Expecially when, what, an extra 30 minutes to do the wiring correctly? I think I was right on the tail end of them providing good product / "ok" service (I say ok in quotes, becuase although I got what I wanted, it took double what they quoted me)

I certainly wouldn't buy again from them, until people starting posting up how good their service has improved.. I think it may take some employee turnover to make that happen though.

This has been the consistant issue over the last 6-7 years, The last one that I looked at up close was less than impressive. That bumper has since been replaces with one that was made by the owner. The original one folded on half while doing a very simple (and not particularly strong) winching excersise.

I'll try to take pictures of the beautiful mount I have on my bumper this weekend.

I know full well what I was jumping into when I ordered it, so no one's fault by my own. Truth be told, I would not recommend them. Again, YMMV.

Well we got the bumper back from line-x yesterday afternoon and it looks much better. To continue the WTF moment the support bar that runs down the center was full of water and they had to drain it. So last time I checked there should not be water inside a metal bumper. Anyways we got it remounted and wired up and we will test it out today.

Should not be an issue anymore. The line-x guy hooked me up and sprayed the crap out of it. They dried it out and then sealed it up really well. Went out today and line-x didn't even scratch.

That hack job on the wiring disgusts me. This is, sadly, not the only negative experience I've heard of when dealing with KMA/TAG. TNX is rife with people that were screwed by KMA. I'm really angry that they did not step up and address your issues, and that there is an aftermarket supplier for the Xterras out there that we are essentially agreeing to boycott. Hopefully the bad press will A) keep someone else from having to deal with the same issues in the future, and B) cause TAG to address their own customer service problems.

I am, however, glad you were able to get your issues taken care of yourself with your local Line-X place.

Well for once I have good news. The line-x was put to the test yesterday with the bumper hitting the ground and being dragged as well. Not one scratch or blemish. Still looks brand new. That's a REAL bed liner.
