Something to read before purchasing DDM HIDS

Okay so let me just say that this article is from a while ago but after my experiences with DDM in my Mazda I feel as though I should at least pass along a warning.

First off I will post a link to their facebook page for those of you that have it and almost all if not all of the "fan" posts on there are people asking where is their product and why has it taken multiple weeks and in some cases months to recieve their product. http://www.facebook.com/#!/DDMTuning

Now to move on to the article that I mentioned earlier

I had one of my 8000k (which turned out to be more like a 6000k white even though I specifically ordered 8000k because I wanted a tint of blue to them) headlights burn out after 3 months, I also had a ballast go bad after 6 months and both of my 6000k fog lights would turn on white like they should have been but after about 2 minutes would start to yellow and eventually go basically the same color as the stock bulbs.

Here are 3 time lapsed pictures showing the yellowing over 5 minutes and also the lights on the far left were supposed to be 8000k which means they should be pretty blue, but as you can see they are white, this was addressed in the lawsuit posted above, as it is likely that I was sent 7000k bulbs
Here is the chart that DDM provides as a guide to bulb color

As you can see 8000k has some blue
and 6000k is pure white not yellow

Yes I realize that people want cheap HIDs but honestly their lifetime replacement warranty took 3 weeks for them to process my request and another 2 weeks for them to send me the replacement and another week for it to get to me. That is a total of 6 weeks without my right headlight, and the same thing happened when the ballast went out.

So yes cheap HIDs are good but when the quality is crap and the customer service is next to none, I would be aware, that there are other companies that for a SLIGHTLY higher price you can recieve the customer care and quality that you are looking for.

The same is true for any part you buy.

The quality of a $40 brake rotor is not the same as the quality of a $90 brake rotor, but if the $40 rotor goes bad, it's not a big deal to change it, If it's an exhaust manifold gasket, and you can buy a quality one for $25 or an cheap one for $10, why save the $15 bucks to have to go through all the work of changing it again if it blows. Same thing is true for the hassle of having to wait for replacement parts under warranty. If you can't walk into a local shop with your defective part and walk out with a replacement, is it REALLY worth the money you saved?

I've seen more than a few customers walk in with ebay HID kits, they are never good quality, and almost always have problems.

Interesting read....the one thing I'd say on the pics above of the HID lights is that I wish the pics were all shot from the same angle. I know some lights look differently from different angles...

I'll be keeping this in mind though, I was going to buy a few of their LED offroad lights, but, with a history like this, I suppose it's time to pony up and spend the extra for the good ones instead of trying to save a few bucks....

Interesting.

I bought a DDM 55w kit for my hella lights a couple if years ago and haven't had any problems.

Not to say they haven't cheapened up the product since then, as they got busier and larger (as indicated by long lead times now).

Too bad. Seems many companies get cheaper for bigger profits, or at least their suppliers do.
