I'm finally going to get the biggest change an Xterra can have. For the best money. Tires!

I stopped by a local tire shop here and was quoted $275 per tire for 285 75 16r load range E Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs mounted and balanced. The total after tax came out to $1225 give or take a dollar here or there. I've got another tire shop to check in town and am hoping for a little better deal. There are discount tires in OKC and Wichita Falls that I could take my rig to and save over $100 but the wife isn't too keen on doing that since we'd end up spending more than we save after gas and all of the incidentals that go with getting out of the house. I tried to convince her that we could do it this spring when we are taking our vacation to the city but she didn't like that either.

Hibdons in Lawton will price match any place within 70 miles, including Discount Tires in Wichita Falls. I've called around and got them to beat all prices in the area for both vehicles.

Nice! I'm gonna look them up. I asked the guy here yesterday if he price matched and he scoffed as he said no. This place doesn't even care if they get your business.

Have you tried discount tire? I got my local guy to price match them, saved me a trip to Reno and he got my business

I have a price quoted from discount tire but my local guy scoffed at a price match. The tire guy I like in town doesn't carry anything but Firestone, won't even order anything else. I have one more place to try in town but odds are I'll be going to Lawton and using OKXterra's Hibdon tire guy.

What about ordering through Discount Tire Direct and have a local guy mount it?

Discount tire direct doesn't though, oddly enough.

right, but, if the shop that OKXterra uses will pricematch discount tire, that's discount tire's price, so from discount, you're at 239.00+15 (installation labor) +8 (tire disposal, if you choose not to keep them as "oh sh!t" backups)x4=1048+tax.....

I've got discount tire in Wichita Falls quoted at $1,109 for a total. Four out the door.

Sounds like youre getting a good deal on the duratracs. Post up some pics after you get them! And let me know how the 285s do on stock suspension. I know it'll need the melt mod, just wondered if they would rub any after the melt mod.

At full stuff, yes, he'll be able to rub them. I can make my stock size km2's rub at full stuff with no swaybars...front and rear rub ;)

He wasn't near that. It was kind of odd considering the price he quoted me on the Duratracs.

Yeah, I don't know what the deal is, but everywhere I called in the area (southwestern OK) a couple years back asking about KM2s wanted a really ridiculous price. Even my regular tire guy said it was going to cost too much for some reason.

Yeah, I took my wife's hair dryer and started to head for the garage, then I had to explain myself. I never made it to the garage. I'll try again sometime.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you're pulling your sway bars off Mac, unless the duratracs are a big blocky tire (squared up) like the BFG at/KO, you won't have rub for more than a day or two. We test fitted km2 285's on mine and there was just the tiniest bit of rub as you turned to full lock

I'm still going to do a little work on them since Becca will be with me right after I get them on. She flipped out when she heard the rubbing after I first got my bumper on. It was kinda cute actually. But she would be very concerned I'm sure.
Good to hear rubbing wont be an issue. Now if I can just get some money together myself. I'm jealous of your bumper and upcoming tires Mac!

Thanks man, my wife told me it takes like up to twenty something days to get your return money in after filing. That put a little water on my fire but there's not anything I can do until we get all the info needed to file.

For future reference. I have 4"of garage clearance before my new tires and future lift. I might need some more weight first.

I have a picture but forum runner is being stupid and not letting me attach it.
