ok so I have been searching to find some info on doing a light lift on my X I have a 3 year old that is in that "I'll do everything myself" stage so I just want something that isnt too much for her to not be able to get in out by herself, anyway my question is has anybody used blocks to lift their X?? i have seen a lot of people doing shackles and torsions and body lift but none using blocks, is there a reason for this???

You'd have to do a spring over conversion. Very DIY if you're into welding and cutting stuff off your axle. And then you'll get some major lift out of the back. But you won't be able to match it with the front unless you get pretty creative.

The Gen 1 is pretty easy to lift.. a PML or poor mans lift is rear shackles and adjusting the torsion bars.. You will get about 1.5"s of lift.
This runs about 75$ plus a realignment. I warn you though.. once you head down this road.. The mod bug will get you :)

You could also do a Body Lift with either a Name brand lift kit or to save money you could go the DIY ways of buying the pucks, bolts and everything you would need by yourself.

HOW to for DIY BL

I can say first hand that for my first real mod I did the DIY BL with purchasing the parts myself. The bolts you most likely will not find at a local shop unless you have something other than an Ace, HomeDepot and Lowes around you. But it's not that difficult. Heck, I'm Polish and a Blonde and with help from a friend we were able to knock it out in just a few hours. Just be sure to follow step by step. And DONT FORGET TO LOOSEN THE HEATER CORE HOSES, unless you want to take from the front seats to the fire wall out to replace the heater core. :questions: LOL

If I'm not mistaken, you will need to do a body lift to clear 33" tires on a first gen, if that's the route you eventually intend to take.

Yes sir you will. And even with the BL and the PML You most likely will still need to cut the back of the front fenders a bit. After flexing and tucking my tires up into the wheel wells i ended up needing to cut some off.

If you check out post #14 on my build thread (link below in signature) you can see what I cut off to start with. I still have to cut some more seeing they still got pushed back and now my passenger door creaks when opening.

You dont have to do a body lift to fit 33's, but if you dont you will have to do some serious trimming to fit. Mine are done back to the body at the cab corners. But a body lift is the more conventional route to go.

To "SAS" your vehicle is to do a solid axle swap. I tried finding a post for ya but I can't find an exact "definition" for ya.

I lied.... SAS LOL
