Isn't this a bit dangerous in a car?

Just saw this Mercedes Benz commercial about how you can get on facebook, look at the news, check for restaurants around the area. But Isnt that what a lot of cities are deeming illegal? I know in my area (Charlotte) that if the police see you on your phone talking, texting, emailing, or what ever on your phone you get a ticket the same as you would speeding.

Its hard enough trying to avoid the crazies that think its okay to text and drive let alone a larger screen well away from the road (if people do find out how to by-pass the system).

Just another one of those strange, completely useless ideas that made it into production... Kinda like the refrigerator that can tweet.

This does sound dangerous though. I really don't see why...

Maybe I'm the only one but selling me on a fancy radio doesn't make me want to buy the car. I've seen the Ford commercials, cadillac commercials, so on so forth blah blah only we have this fancy radio. I'm like.... bring your Ipad or Iphone into your rust bucket car and you have infinite better options. I don't see the interest in being able to network everything through my car as I'm only in my car for 30min a day... driving not parked. If I had it, I know I would never use it. I'm much more fluent with my phone thereby it's much easier quicker faster for me to use so I would never stab buttons on my car reciever to post on facebook. If I wanted the option I know a local audio shop could hook me up with a much high quality unit that actually sounds good.

People have forgotten a car runs on a drivetrain with an engine, transmission, and axles. Most of the folks now are total idiots when it comes to their vehicles. They are infinitely tickled to death over phone connectivity, fancy radios, fancy screens, and junk that has nothing to do with hauling your rear end from point A to B.

I got an Xterra specifically because I liked what was underneath the cab. The extra fluff I got with the PRO-4X package is nice, no doubt, and I use some of it, but it's not important. Honestly it's just something extra to fail. I got it because it had a frame, a stout engine, a transfer case, a real axle. It was a stout built vehicle, and that impressed me. Case in point, my X has the Bluetooth thing for the phone. My phone doesn't do Bluetooth, so I'm not using that feature, and I haven't been very motivated to get a phone with Bluetooth, cause it's just not that important to me. If my phone did that, sure I'd hook it up, I'm not going to spend money just for that though.
