Very desirable in rigs that don't weigh 5000 pounds like ours. Type in vg33 at youtube and you will find more swaps then Xterras. Not a bad engine to build up either can take plenty of power.

Idk if my little v6 had the 600hp the page claims is possible on a stock bottom end i dont think Id swap it. However I have my doubts. The real question would be if they are capable of that much power why did the factory choke them that badly.

I really want to swap a 5.0 in mine.

It wqas all for the low end torque and dependability. The more performance you get, the shorter the life span. I fully plan on still driving mine with 300K on the clock. and that is not something that you can say about a 600 hp mill of the same displacement.

Yeah Granite is right our engines are detuned for long lasting reliability. The cams for example are the said by many to be the worst performing cams ever put in a VG block. The rise and duration compared to previous models show it as fact. Nissan was hunting for torque, low epa gases, low cost, reliability and mpg numbers rather then raw performance when building a truck.
