I'm having an issue with PS maybe?

At a stop, usually when parking, I try toturn the wheels and the power steering is intermittent with belt squeekage, also if the tire is against anything the power steering is not there at all, just belt slippage. Anytime I'm crawling over a rock or a log or anything and have to turn it screams and j have no PS. I'm guessing needs a new pump? Anyone know how hard that is to do in a driveway ?

I tried to check the fluid tonight but alas light was fading and I couldn't get a good look at it with a flashlight so I'm going to check it all out tomorrow morning. I checked the fluid level a couple months back because I noticed seepage from a line and all was good, there is no new or pronounced leaks but if it is seeping out its probably just low fluid, I should have checked it good before posting I guess lol. Thanks for the tips and as I said ill check them all out when I can see ;)

If you find it's low you can try topping it off with a PS fluid that has conditioners in it such as Lucas. They can slow leaks without clogging anything. Mine a some seepage when I got it. Not enough to ever drip but it did run low. I filled it with Lucas PS fluid and haven't needed to add any more since.

my PS is crapping out on me to, in cold weather especially. couple days ago i checked the level it was on the low side so i went and bought some fluid with stop leak drained the reservoir added the new fluid still squeaks a bit when cold and when at full turn but its much better.

Ill grab some fluid tonight after work or possibly tomorrow morning, no visible drip or any fluid under truck or in engine bay, just lines are like moist with fluid but only the lines, just some seepage that over time drained me so ill see if i can stop the seepage with a good Lucas Oil product!

Make sure you get ATF and not a regular PS Fluid. You wouldn't catch me putting anything made by lucas in my vehicles either, its a band-aid at best (I had it trash a ps pump on a B13 SE-R before I knew better) but fixing the leaks is the right way to do it, most of the time its the hoses (suction and return) around the reservoir getting rock hard and brittle from the heat of the exhaust. Most of the guys will just tighten up the clamps or replace them with worm gears, but non liner worm gears just chew up the hose when you clamp the crap out of stuff with them. The hoses off the reservoir are pretty cheap and easy to replace.

If its intermittent, you may have air in the system, top it off and crank the wheels back and forth for awhile, its a lot easier with the front end in the air.

No, Nissan uses 'Nissan PSF', which is basically a Mercon. I've topped off with Valvoline Max Life Dex/Merc with no issues that I can tell.
