Help! My hood won't open and I need to change my side marker! Oh and if something were to go wrong enginewise then yeah that would suck too. The handle pulls and makes a click noise (kinda like an unlocking click) at the handle, but the hood will not pop up or even be forced up when one person is lifting and one is pulling the handle. Then if I push down on the hood there is another noise almost like it re locking. The handle doesn't seem to be able to pull out all the way.

Quit being a wuss lol. Just pushup harder and pray the hell out of the mechanism with some lubricant when you get it open.

Tough to explain but you can get a flat head inside the mechanism and pry the jaw open. The springs are probably rusted and not releasing. Looking at the lock, I think its the jaw on the left. Also helps if you can have someone pull the release while your looking at it so you can see the way it operates. When you get it open saturate it with pb or wd and work the mechanism.

I'd say try and pry it open with a screw driver, but I don't know what the mechanism is like exactly.

You can yank all you want but if you don't pry the stuck jaw loose it's not going to come up. It's tight but you can get at it through the grill with a screwdriver.

I say use a Hi-Lift it will open one way or another. Blow torch and cut latch!!!.
In all reality if you are somewhere where its freezing cold out. I had my hood frozen shut before. never cleaned it off good so Every time I started the vehicle it would melt some snow then freeze and back and forth one day I needed a jump. To say the least I pulled out the torch and melted it open. Not the metal but the Ice.

Take the hood release cable off the handle in the truck and take a vice grip and pull the bare cable. That cable might be stretched out to where it wont open on its own

I had a vehicle, actually the same as above where this was the only option Then the cable got real short so I installed a piece of wood as a pull handle in the front bumper!!! Ahh college the only time in life where a $100 car is good enough to pick up a woman.
