He's done answering questions until January. ;)

And yes, we have a facility (sitting a little ways from my house) that's 1800 square feet of whatever-it-needs-to-be that we can build most anything out of. So the "anyone that uses us" statement is relevant on several different levels.

A good chef doesn't teach his patrons how he prepares the steak, one simply pays for it and enjoys the hell out of it. Kind of how we operate, he just tells you he uses some salt and pepper during his steak prep, but they're not the only ingredients though. And he's a Master Chef!

Great, now I want a steak. See what you did?! :sure:

I want to say that one day I will do my own SAS, but I also wouldn't mind putting it on a flat bed or a trailer and having it shipped to your "1800 square feet of whatever-it-needs-to-be" and just let you guys have fun with it.

If I ever do a SAS I want to do it myself....it may turn out like one big flexy pile of crap.....but I will be proud of my flexy piece of crap!!

Although the mystical black magic goin on in that 1800 square foot lair of love would be something I wouldn't mind having.....I'd suffer through :bmmd:

I really like this statement.

And I completely understand.

Thanks for the info. The Pathy reservoir helps tremendously as does the brake info! I'm actually in about the same spot to where I can't say anything more about my build until the end of January. I may still probe the both of you for some info just to see if I can get a sneak peek ;)

Looking forward to seeing some more awesome stuff on your rig Gramps!

I think it was without a bumper for something like 7 years or so, maybe longer. At least it will have something going on it in the front. High clearance, integrated frame/winch mount and the bumper is completely separate from the winch. The bumper can be taken off without touching the winch and when he is winching, it's pulling directly off the frame, no nose-diving at all (with a straight ahead pull). It's turning out nice.

But it's taking a long time to get it just right. Hell, it took us over 4 hours just to get the center piece on the bumper right, above the winch. Another 5 hours or so today for the wing pieces and they're only tacked on as of now. We have to build the upper plates, tack those on, take the whole thing off, weld it to a jig and then finish welding the whole bumper with the jig welded on so it doesn't flex or warp with the welding heat.

It's a process. A long arse process.

It might be a process but the thinking behind this is exceptional.

If a white xterra shows up on a flatbed and your bank account has been wirefed money.. just accept it, put it into the truck, put it back on the flatbed and slap the self-addressed label on the windshield and it will be out of your hair soon enough. be sure to have fun with it though.

Where's the obligatory "axle humping" pic? Seems like every time we used to build one we had someone taking a pic of someone else humping an axle somewhere.

Those were the days. Jeebus, it feels like it wasn't that long ago. Hell, people were leaving their X with you because they were going to the airport and they'd come back with a D44 shoved under the front. Not that it would happen like that today, but if they didn't specify "no"... and I was inclined too...

Nah, too much to do nowadays. :lolz:

I may be inclined to drive out there and leave my X and fly home just so you can shove a D44 under there...lol

Can you say Junkyard custom... A high pinion Dana 44 differential housing from a 78 Bronco, 3-1/2 inch 1/3 wall tubes, the outer assembly/axle shafts from a 91 Isuzu Rodeo, and Dana 50 ring and pinion. This is going to make a sweet rear hi-pinion axle for a CJ5.

The older I get... the less the hard stuff appeals to me. Love drinking it. hate feeling slow for 3 days after. (I answer 3.25 booze questions a month)
