Getting the bug...

Looking into starting to collect parts for a SAS on my X that I've had for a total of 3 weeks now, haha. Just have a couple questions that I'm not 100% on... to get things started anyways.. haha

From what I've read, the rear axle WMS in the xterras is about 62.5. is this right?
if so, whats the measurement on the front? I haven't been able to find any decent measurements of the front. The only reason I ask is because I don't want to go much wider than what I'm at now.

What is everyone doing about the ABS? I don't "need" it, however, we have safety inspections here, so I need to be sure I can still pass the inspections when I'm done.

Look up the Calmini kit.. ITs almost everything you would need besides the front axel. Early 80s wagoneers
are what many try to use.. I have also heard of people having the axels custom cut.

We also had a member on here posting up a list of bought items to do his SAS.. I think he had to put it on hold..

Ill let others pop in to give advice.

Cyclemutt is a good one on this topic..

I'll be making everything for the suspension myself, or use stuff I already have leftover from my previous builds. From what I've read, the waggy axles are a bit more narrow (60"ish). So I am trying to avoid them. I've been looking into axles from a new JK wrangler. The width thing I can figure out. My main concern is the ABS with inspections

Waggy axles are 62" ('80-'84), and can be as short as 59.5-60". and the H223b is 62.5. Spacers are usually used to either compensate and/or use our stock rim size (15").

Hmmm. With the rear at 62.5" I think I'll just use the 3/4 ton ford axles I have. The rear is only 65, so I can deal with just that little bit of extra width.

AND.... I talked to an inspection station and found out that they don't actually inspect ABS. So as long as the red brake warning light isn't on, I'm good!

I have 79 ford f-250 axles under my X, D44 front and D60 rear. I have some parts from calmini but the rest was all built at home. coilover front and leaf sprung rear.

If you get a JK axle you might be able to wire in the factory abs. It would take a smarter man than I to tell you how to do it but its a thought.
