Okay Ladies and Gents of the XterraNation, ive got a question. So late last night me and a couple buddies decided to go trail riding. Well we came across these puddles that turned into lakes. The water ended up to my bumpers. I wasnt in the water long, maybe 3-4 seconds. But on my ride home today, my throttle seemed stiffer than usual? Is this usual when this stuff happens? Will I be expecting more problems soon? Please help!

Water in the diffs... That's where I would start... I would drain ASAP! The breather line is low and can allow water to seep in

On each diff, there's a drain plug toward the bottom, and a fill plug about 1/2 way up; you'll see a square indentation in the plugs. You'll need 3 bottles of oil for the rear, and probably 2 for the front (I'm 2wd and don't have the FSM in front of me right now). Put a 1/2 ratchet or breaker bar in the fill plug and remove that. Repeat for the drain. Put some thread sealant (Teflon tape or liquid pipe dope) and replace the drain plug. Pour oil into the full port until it starts to spill out. Replace the fill plug and done.

It is done. The 1.5 apparently has a horrible breather on the rear; the vent is right on the axle. The 1.0 at least is extended up closer to the body.

Wouldn't hurt to pull your hubs off and check the grease, make sure there's no water in there, might think about repacking your wheel bearings too.

So I had my personal mechanic take a look at it, and after a good look through, he came to the conclusion that he will drain the Diffs and look over my accelerator line, suggesting there might be water in there that froze over night. I'll know better tomorrow when he takes his final look and does the last of the work. Thanks everyone for the help!

So for those breather hoses can you re route them to a higher position?

Okay so I got everything straightened out and fixed. She runs better than before the water! Lol thanks everyone for the feed back. Next step, move the Diff breather...
