Man I like where you put the CB a lot.. I think I will be doing the same thing....

Have you noticed a hit on your MPGs with the Goodyears?

Yeah it fits like it was made for that spot. The lid closes fine with it clipped to the little card holder, and if it's out it will close over the cord. You might want to put more thought into the hole for the coax than I did though. It's okay where I put it, but sort of in the way. I didn't want it on the bottom as I figured junk would fall through under the console, so I stuck it up high. If I had it to do over I might have went closer to a corner.

I'm still not confident on my figure, but I'm guessing about a 1mpg hit from the Duratrac's. It felt like more at first, but looking at the numbers it really didn't pull my averages down a ton.

Thank you for sharing.. I think Ill be buying Duratracs for the Gen 2.. Ill end up with 285s.. I keep reading how people loos about 50 miles per tank and I just dont think they are fuguring their MPGs right.. You have to compensate for the larger tires.. and the speedo being off... Im picking tires up Friday so I need to finally figure out what Im going to run..
KOs are still pulling at me

Ha ha, your always seeing me. This time it wasn't me though, my wheels are stock color, and I was in Bowling Green all day. We shall have to cross paths again, hopefully you can stop and say hi.

I'd like to know as well. There are a lot of X's around here, but didn't figure on many like mine. Funny, about a week ago I seen a Black OR/P4X just like mine, only bone stock, with a woman driver, on 231 on the edge of BG. I waved, she didn't.

I've also seen a white, and a silver OR/P4X in town, and countless X's of other configurations, 1st and 2nd gens.

I'll watch for the Brinks truck, I'll try to wave. I would run you down but you know, that might look suspect....:p

Haha. Guy has a good looking truck, whoever it is. I won't be in BG tomorrow, or this Friday...boss has the schedule all jacked up, but I hope it's back to normal Monday. You can always wave! I'm usually looking around, most of the time.

What way did you route the wire for the antenna?

I made a X slice in the grommet for the lift gate wiring big enough to get the connector through, (and later sealed up with silicone).

From there I pulled back the upper portion of the rearmost pillar behind the drivers side back window, and pulled down the headliner a bit, routing the wire from the grommet, down and around to where it was on top the headliner.

I removed the weather seal on the drivers side rear door, and routed the wire down from the headliner, slipping it behind the plastic on the C pillar (rear side of rear door) I believe it's called, until it got to the floor, where I then pulled up the carpet and run it under to the center console.

You have to undo the 2 fasteners to lift up the console and slip the wire under it. I removed the back panel of it I think, it just pops off, and drilled my hole for the connector to come out inside the storage box.

Once everything is put back together you won't see the cable anywhere. It only took an hour or two, I did it after work one day and had it done that same evening.

Any reason you didn't go through the roof where the wiring for the lights come from? Is that even possible.

Your way sounds great, but I'm looking for a way to hook up an antenna closer to the front of the rack, so I can fold it towards the back of the truck. This would also hide all the external wiring because of the stock fairing/basket up there.

Well, I didn't consider that route as my antenna is closer to the rear than the front. I don't know how large the grommet is for that, I seem to think it's too small. You would also have to take it in behind the dash.

My antenna folds down front or back, but it's only 3' and I have it about center of the rack.

I hate to be jacking you thread here, but my idea was to take it from the center console, under the carpet to the B-pillar, go up the B-pillar, above the headliner to the spot for the roof lamps. I'm not real familiar with how everything is situated up there... only had the truck for a couple of weeks.

EDIT: It appears you can squeeze a CB wire through there. I'm unsure on if it could fit through the stock rubber seal, as my example has 4 after market lamps going up as well. But anyhow, I've got an answer... forgive the site I'm going to link to.

Cool, good to know if I ever decide to use that grommet.

I would watch out for the side curtain airbags in the B-pillar area. I'm not sure where all of them are, but I seen the ones in the headliner, they run over all the doors. You would need to route your cable so as not to interefere with those.

Man this is an old thread.....

And it's no longer a Daily driver, full on camping rig.

Last post didn't work out. Diff cover was crap and never fit properly. Turned out to be a real pain in my rear end, pun intended.

Off the top of my head SINCE I've posted here I've:

Installed a recessed winch front bumper, winch, and all the fixings for that.

Roof rack went through a few versions, the one that stuck was a full GOBI Ranger roof rack, and hatch ladder, with LED lights on the front. Depending on my needs it has an awning and/or RTT attached.

OME 2" lift, full suspension replacement including leafs.

I now run 285/75/16 Duratrac's full time, on my 3rd set, 2nd set at the 33" size. Includes matching wheel and tire as a spare.

I custom designed and built a slide out rear cargo system. In it's camping configuration it holds a chuck box and fridge. Also custom wiring for the fridge, 10ga direct from the battery to Anderson powerpole connectors panel mounted in the rear cubby.

Custom interior LED lighting in the cargo area and rear hatch.

All this is powered by a 100Ah Northstar AGM Group 31 battery. (A solar setup is likely in my future.)

Currently have CB, ham, and working on a GMRS rig in the way of comms. Not particularly vehicle attached but I have satellite too.
