you mean you changed your major to fire science? because that's the major that fire fighters normally major in. as far as the lights/ sirens, is your department a full volunteer department? are you really going to save that much time swerving in and out of traffic in your suv to save someone and not risk the chance of causing another accident? i ask because if you haven't driven code before people have a hard enough time stopping for my gigantic fire engine let alone a mid size suv.....pros and cons there to look at. is your life really worth the extra minute upon arrival your not driving a sports car you aren't going to get there that much faster. risk vs gain my friend always think that.
your x has that clothe sunroof cover also. if you need one i have one i could send you. i have never used it in my x once, that would get rid of your glare.
as far as the lights. our chiefs run lights similar to these. they run them in the rear by the third brake light, and then in the front on the bumper.

we use this kind of wail/siren its pretty simple and if you really wanted to get into it. you could use some kind of custom center console and make all of it fit.

Our technical college offers fire science but I'm getting a more management degree at the university. Allows a better chance of being a chief from the career fire fighters in town. Yes my department is all volunteer we have no one who is paid full time or on call. Almost everyone in every single department (of the 8 departments in my county) runs POV lights. Once I go joint department with my parents district I will have to go about a mile through the city's department to get to our station. So lights and sirens are a must especially on weekends when traffic is at a dead stand still for everyone coming into town for the weekend. Not saying it won't happen because I know the number 2 leading cause in fire fighter death is accidents POV or apparatus, but again not saying it won't happen but we haven't had a POV or apparatus accident in year and years and years from what I understand.

As for the cover that would be awesome PM and I we can figure it out, my truck didnt come with one when I got it.

Ill check those lights out.

ill check to see if its in my garage amigo. like i said i've never used it once, and i made a new light bar so my lights are in front of that part now. ill let you know if i have it. ill snap a pic of the inside of my engine tomorrow when i'm at work too and show you how our wail/siren / lights setup is.

i wasn't trying to flame you aaron on your lights. i'm just trying to watch out for you man, i know your young and excited about it. i'm just making sure you're thinking about your safety first.

Totally understand and if it wasn't for guys like you, there would be people who wouldn't think twice about it. But I have around 50 hours off drivers training behind our engines and tankers before ill be able to use my POV lights. For example ill be certified to run emergency status with an officer or higher in the truck with me to incidents in our engine before I can respond with my lights to scenes.

Totally understand man and thanks for all you do! I can't wait til I graduate and am able to start applying for career fire departments!

Cameron look up the video on YouTube of the roof rack bar option I posted in the OP.

Someone has to start from somewhere and it's better now that I'm getting experience while taking the degree rather than getting the degree with no experience and jumping into the career.

First set of lights are on. The white ones look blue but they are white. If it comes to that point I may end up replacing them with 2 more red ones.

Houston we have a problem. I am in love with this bar an it is water proof so I am wanting to mount it like a B&M Bar I currently have. Only issue is the bar is 32.20" and I have no idea how to mount it to my roof. Would I have to weld some tabs on like dave does to his B&M's so it will screw into the roof basket holes like my current bar or what?

Also I am going to be putting 2 of these below my winch plate on either side of my fair lead at some point, and possibly 2 along side my license plate.

They may be small but tons of VFF in my county run them an honestly I think its the brightest lights ive seen.

It has some flashback but any interior light is going to. It's got a plate under the lights that runs up to the glass so minimize it.

still don't agree with the personal response vehicles but be careful out there man!

Thanks man you too! It's really big in the south, I guess since the majority is rural town an career departments being far an few between. But every volunteer department I know of surrounding me runs them. Granted I go down 2 lane roads an only a 4 lane for about a quarter mile til I hit the parkway where it's open an empty so I don't see that much traffic at all, it's just the distance that sucks for me.

Ok as promised weeks ago here is a video of all the patterns on my bar. The pattern at the very beginning of the video is the pattern I run currently.
