[h=6]Hey guys, I just wanted to put this out there for you all... My niece is going through open heart surgery in about an hour. Please keep her in your prayers. Her name is Faith. She is in California right now, and gobble willing, she will come home, but the reality is she might never come back.... So if you coul keep my 5 month old niece in your prayers, it could change her life, and many others as well by having her here. Thanks guys.

Having gone through open heart surgery last October, be thankful that it's happening now, while she's this young. Sounds horrible, I know, but I've met so many folks that have had it done young vs. others that have had it done when they were older and the young patients have it so much better now it's night and day.

Youth has its advantages. Be thankful and strong. She'll do just fine!

Thoughts with you dude.

thanks so much guys. Faith is doing much better. she got out of surgery and was great for about 4 hours... then she went into cardiac arrest. her body started to swell while losing color, but thats normal with any surgery. her heart has since calmed down shes back to "normal" and she is recovering remarkably well. keep her in your thoughts and prayers, an thanks for the support so much... it really means alot to all of us. ill let you know in a few days how shes doing!

That is normal. I went into arrest a couple of times, so I've been told. But they had me on bypass for over 5 hours due to some complications.

Glad she's OK!

The lung issue with me was minor, with a bit of fluid built up. Not enough to drain and eventually it dissipated on its own. I had a chest tube in for several days and was on the vent only after the initial surgery, about 8 hours. But I was on oxygen for several days too, to help with the lung issue.

I did have some bleeding around the valve after I taken off of bypass but they held off on the thinners to let the bleeding stop. After that, the thinners were ramped up pretty quickly with an eye on the valve and surrounding area.

What kind of lung issue is she dealing with?
