"Glass breaker and seatbelt cutter mounted under the rear seats", plan on going swimming? Sorry I had to ask? I assume it is for if the truck goes under water and you need to bail out? I like the idea of painting the top inside roof.

Yeah that little breaker is one of those "if you have it and don't need it fine.....but if you need it and don't have it" kind of situations....and with it mounted there anybody can grab it.

With LED's they only work when you put them in a certain way.......on all 4 I managed to try the wrong way first.....Yup I work for a company who's business is installing electrical stuff.

That's them being lazy. Putting a bridge rectifier between the contacts and the leads would've made them bipolar.

Yeah. It is them being lazy. But the rest of the quality and brightness of those lights more than makes up for it.

What do you think of the finished product, Taylor?

I am very happy with them....clean, bright light. I went out after dark to check the dome lights....holy moly they're bright......kinda expensive for the brake lights but in the end I think they'll be worth it

I'll take some pics this weekend of how it is right now.

Basically I ran wires straight to the front dome light, down the A pillar, through the firewall, out the engine compartment into the fender. Zip tied the LED strip at various points and connected it up.

I will be changing the wiring though. I'll use a SPDT switch most likely based off the ground wire of the strip (if you use the positive you'll have a hard time getting around using the switch and not having the interior turn on) So control of the strip from the switch perspective will be Interior/Off/On. Later on I plan to do some more forward facing lights mounted beside the radiator like Casey has that will be on when the switch is in the "ON" position. (This will take a relay, probably using the ground side of the "Enable" pin as well)

Hope thats clear enough for my wiring idea, I know there can be issues with shorting if you use the ground to switch but it seems to be a good work around.

Alright I took pics of mostly how I did the rock lights (There really isn't much to it) Again this is a temporary setup until I put a 3 way switch in like my last post here describes.

Connected straight to the front dome light. You can't see the negitive but its on the other side of the light.

From there It goes across the drivers head and down the A-pillar, through the firewall and into the engine compartment.

I put the wires through a random hole that goes down into the fender. (Looking front to back)

In the fender is where the wires connect to the strip. Can't get a pic of that but it looks like wires connected with electrical tape wrapped around them.....Probably has some mud on them by now.

The rest of it is finding places to put the strip and zip tie it.

In the wheel well its a bit behind the cover pointing a bit toward engine area of the X.

I really like those rock lights. I feel like I've seen you post a link somewhere before but I can't find it, do you have a link where you got the led strip for it? I'd like to do something similar eventually.

Thanks I'm happy with them and so far they've held up in rain and what snow we get here but I'm wondering about thick mud....But they're so cheap it might be ok....eventually might try and make a bracket with JB weld to the frame....

Thanks! Wow those were a lot cheaper than I thought. I think I might try to install them with a switch, was it difficult trying to feed the light under the body and finding places to attach it?

No I just brought it out the wheel well....Once I get a switch panel made I'll put it on a 3-way. As for attaching it underneath.....yeah there aren't many places, thats why I'm thinking about putting a bracket along the frame specifically for these lights. I'm afraid right now that if you get much on them it'll snap the strip.

Can you cut that strip where ever you want? How was the wiring?

Sent from space and stuff

Yeah it can be cut every 3 LEDs (roughly 3 inches) and solder new leads to the cut piece. Though I tried to solder and Couldn't get the Strip to tin....I need to borrow a hotter iron and try again.

It comes with leads on one end, although the strip I put on my hatch awhile back had them on both ends, that are a few inches long so theres enough room to connect on longer ones. Easy as possible unless you cut it, then its not hard as long as you can solder.

Ordered LED replacements for:

Front parking lights
Reverse lights
Map lights
License plate lights

I'm cheap so I got the slow shipping and the reverse lights are on back order so we'll see how long it takes for these to get here.
