you guys know what sucks....? Having to drive this thing everyday.... knowing that you are actually having it up for sale. You have parts of it for sale if it doesn't sell for what you want... You know; yesterday one of my belts broke on me and I lost my alt/vacuum pump meaning my brakes were now full manual. I think this X has a soul or something and I just broke the damn thing's heart. Can you say I am starting to regret replacing it with the Frontier.

I kind of also feel like I may be letting a bunch of you down b/c you guys voted for me for XOTM and XOTY. This is what a 30 minute drive to work, and 30 minute drive back home with the windows down while just listening to the X whistle a tune for you.

I think I have issues

Nothing on this X is for sell anymore. The value of the X is the support I have received from everyone. With the XOTM and XOTY honors I definitely do not want to part with it.

Now the X will undergo the repairs it has needed. Halfshafts, Glowplugs, alignment, tires, etc. I am also now dedicated to make it out to NXM or GONE Moab.

Thank you everyone for your support throughout the project, even with my second thoughts on keeping it or not!

Well... glowplugs must have been bad a long ways before I got the engine... anyhow I have ordered 2 sets from out of the UK until I can find a interchange or local supplier. 30 degree weather in the mornings and it is a really PITA to get started, IF I can get it started. So until those plugs get here I will be parking it in the "warmer" garage. I also am wanting to repaint all the wheels black again among other things to give it that "newish kinda not really" feel again.

I'm just seeing this for the first time today. When I got to the part about selling it I had a "Nooooooooo!" Moment Darth Vader would have been proud of. I'm glad you changed your mind.

thanks guys! I just did a compression test and results are good! 480psi across the board. With the standard being 427psi and wore being 356psi.... I think I am doing well. Now I just need those dang glow plugs to arrive!!!!!!

and i take it that getting to the glow plugs on that motor is easier than the spark plugs on the old VG33?

well... to have an idea; they are accessed from the top. the only thing in the way is the heater hoses that are easily moved. Annnnnd that is about it. :D

It is like a wet dream compared to the VG33's

As of right now, I feel it might not be needed. The glowplugs get to around 800 celsius in 10 seconds in the pre-combustion chamber. I don't think it gets cold enough here in Austin for a block heater. But then again, block heaters are not too pricy.

Yeah. I had one on my F-450, and dammit, I only might have ever used it two or three times, but I was glad I had it then. Even with glow plugs, the 6.0L Powerstrokes were ornery in the cold. I mean, in all honesty, they were not the best engines in the world to begin with, but cold starting was definitely an issue. The block heater saved me a bit of worry the few nights I used it.

And the last time I was in that neck of the woods (Jan 2010), it was a damn sight colder than it ever gets here.

well, some bad news. The X will not be published. Nissan Sport Magazine has announced it will no longer be publishing as of 2013. I also have not heard back from Diesel Magazine. Oh wells, my X's fans were with me since the beginning. Again, thank you everyone here especially for all your support and backing of the build.

P.S. I am still waiting for someone else here to do the swap.

Bummer man, still nice to be noticed though.

I just read that about NSM. Sad to see them go. Hopefully Diesel MAg will still show off your handiwork to the world.

Glow plugs, and injectors are on top. Injection pump on the passenger side of the engine (easy to get to mostly and all mechanical). Alternator is on top on the driver side. All belts are simple v-belts. The VG33E took up a lot of space, as where the TD27T is the same size of the 4 cylinder KA24DE. Pictures never do it justice... you just have to see in person.

Eh it is not so bad, it happens. I did look through Diesel Mag's new issue "Diesel Swaps" and it is all the same stuff..... 4BT motors... I am glad I didn't swap one of those in the X. It has really been mainstreamed and overdone. And good gawd the pricing on the 4BT's are really high for what they are.

Just joined after reading through this thread, and wanted to try to help. I have a Terrano Manual with the TD27 engine in it in pdf if you are still looking. Also, it seems like the HT-12 turbo on the TD27t is t25 flange. Should be able to do some decent upgrades. The TD27 has several aftermarket turbo kits that have a t3 flange so you should be able to get big with the turbo if you are looking to. A Mistral/TerranoII TMIC should bolt on pretty well if you want to go intercooled. Just be aware of the emergency relief valve if you try to go above 15 psi.

Thank you for the info Dust. I can always add to my collection of PDF manuals. I may already have it, but I am sure there are other versions of it out there. As of right now it has all the power I need, just need to get an EGT gauge setup going so I can properly tune it, and may get the stock turbo rebuilt or get a slightly better spooling replacement. I would like to get a TMIC but I have trouble with the pricing after shipping to the states. The relief valve you speak of is no more, I boost around 19 psi currently. Post a picture of your terrano if you don't mind.

Glad to see you keep the X my friend. :)

It would have been really hard to let go of. Glad that I didn't. I would love to see how much torque i can get out of it though.

Some more info I forgot to add

http://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/Applications.aspx?Section=4

Go here, look under off-highway, then nissan, then forklifts, and under Select an Engine, you can find the TD27. Also, if you ever need more, rockauto lists the terrano 2.7 OHV and shows an NGK 6140, or 6585 for glow plugs depending on year.

There are a few ICs on Ebay.co.uk. Check under Ford Maverick or TerranoII as well.

And if you decide to do a Frontier, sign me up for a 2wd Crew Cab in April when I head back to ATX

I have a friend that is a water meth dealer in England with a Terrano2 if you want me to ask him about one. YOu could also probably get dimensions and find a generic one on ebay if they come out too much.

I usually order my parts off of rockauto but, I ended up buying my glow plugs recently from ebay. $90 for 8 shipped to the ATX from the UK. IIRC they were a little bit cheaper. I ordered 6140's, same ones I already had and the price was right.

If you do the swap and need parts, here is a parts reference.

Interested to know how the mounts and wiring went. What are you doing about the wiring that you aren't using anymore? Does OBD2 still work? After seeing this, I have been thinking 5 speed 4x2 frontier crew cab.
