good lord above! what freaks me out is that if you flopped half you rig is sitting in that "water" side ways rather then just flopping on a dry trail.

also... did your Alt hold up with all that swamp muck?

Surprisingly it did hold up. I dont know how though.

So the story. After a Friday of wheelings some trails, Tucker, who was the trail leader, offered the choice of going on one last trail to people. Out of i tihnk around 20ish trucks, only 4 wanted to stay. Tucker, these 2 gen 2's, and I.

THe first thing Tucker says is "I've never been on this trail so I dont know what to expect."

Now, I was still in 2wd, as I thought my CV axles were going bad. About the second hill up I get stuck so I just said screw it, I'm putting it in 4wd, eff these ghetto CV's. (Later on at camp that day I found out my $wd works just fine. The noise I thought was bad CV's, was actually a piece of rusted off heatshield spinning against the spinning front driveshaft. :/) Now, there is no way I could have made this trail in 4wd, it was too slippery, too wet, and too many rocks.

So we continue down the trail, having to stop every 2 minutes or so for Tucker to hop out and clear away some of the brush., when we come to this enclosed area. Straight ahead is the seemingly 2 foot deep water with mud at the bottom, to the left is a slanted way up and over and past the water, and to the far left is a smaller ATV route. So obviously this left us with 2 choices. Go forward or turn around now. JK

But left to up and over, or straight into the dark deep smelly waters. We all picked to go left. Tucker goes, clears it fine. Gen 2 goes, clears it fine. Other gen 2 goes, clears it fine. I go.

Either I didnt take the slant hard enough, or having those trucks go first loosed up the land or something, but my rear tire swung out and over the little cliff over looking the water. My thoughts are, "I'm in 4wd, I should just be able to drive straight and pop my wheel back up on level land."

I try to do that.

What actually ensues is BOTH my rear tires hanging off the ledge, my left one not as bad. Finally tucker notices and I say" I'm off the cliff arent I?"

He says "Yeahup."

I take a deep breath, try to shoot forward again, doesnt work, I slip more off, I start to slide back and up into a slowly flipping titanic position. Which everyone throws their weight on, and i throw my weight away from the flip, which I honestly think is the only thing that stopped me from flipping. After changing my underwear, one of the gen 2's turned around, 90 degreed me off a tree, I slowly AND I MEAN SLOWLY backed up into the much, back up all the way to where we first saw the obstacle. Put it in 4lo, and just powerhouse through the water. I have 33's and a pml, and you can only see my fenders above the water. It was crazy.

Whats even more funny, is that my mother texted me before i left for the trip saying, "Be safe, i have a bad feeling about this trip."

It's cute though. After banging around in 2wd all day on Friday, except for that last trail, the only damage I suffered from NXM is a waterlogged horn.

I lead that group that didn't want to go on down (some stories in those events as well) otherwise I probably would have gone on. But, that story makes me very happy I didn't go. Because I have an odd feeling with my luck I would have ended up upside down in the icky pit.

Glad you made it out though bro. Got some cool pics and a good story now :bmmd:

Next year I say just bog through it....you got a snorkel just shrink wrap your alternator and goooooo :hihi:

I think it was when you were backing into the goop and you happened to tap your brakes, causing your momentum to push you towards rolling, that is when every bad thought went through my head and my stomach sank into my feet. The last thing as a trail leader that you want to happen is to have someone roll over, and especially not into that goopy nastness.

So XN help me out. I have enough money for 2 out of 3 of these things. Help me decide.
1. New tires.
2. Sl.
3. Fix the major exhaust leak.

I need new tires within a month, I want more lift, and im tired of hearing my leak

If 33s fit now and you don't plan to go bigger after the SL, I'd do tires and exhaust leak. Tires are obviously mandatory so that really only leaves the other two as options. If you would want different tires after the lift do it now and let the exhaust leak a while longer.

I vote 33s and lift. exhaust leaks are annoying but at least for me they seem to never end and turn into costing way more than I anticipated to fix.

Tires and exhaust winter is coming. If you don't get new tires the lack of traction could cause accident which would make the situation a whole lot worse. Exhaust well that repair is needed to keep your sanity. Keep you on the path of thinking highly of your truck. Also if you get stranded in the winter and have to run your truck for heat. At least you know the fumes are coming out the tail pipe and not wafting into the cab through cab vents. Safety is the biggest issue. Tires and exhaust can be safety issues.

Do you need headers? Or is the leak somewhere else? Mid pipes and Catback aren't that big of a deal. And I glanced at your OP and didn't see mention of a body lift. With a body lift, headers are stupid easy. Without one? I'm not sure how hard it'd be. But definitely harder.

Finished a rear light bar for some backup lights, ill post up some pictures tomorrow.

However, I did drive over to Fayetteville today (90miles) to get some red racing seats for 100 bucks. They are surprisingly comfortable, at least more comfortable than the stock seats, and the guy even threw me in an extra Corbeau 4 point. Now if only i knew how to work that thing...

Overall a decent little mod day. I'll mount the bar tomorrow and snap some pics of it. Then hopefully wire it up by Wednesday. Also ill be ordering some LED conversion bulbs for the license plate lights, parking lights, map lights, gauge lights, and shifter lights within a week. The plate metal for my front bumper will be here no later than Friday, so I should finish that by next next week depending on days off. Then just find some tires and get this leak checked out and a few other small mods and ill be done for the year. Man how time flies. I've had this truck for a year now. And only started modding in March. Good times.
