Mine didnt come with a templet per say.. but I did have a the foam that sits between the snorkel and the body to use.
I must have deleted my pix of it...

Either way take your time with this mod... And I seen some one post up that the hole saw jumped on them...

TIP Drill a smaller pilot hole first, Then use your 3" hole bit Start drilling it in reverse first. It will grind a lip.. And once you start drilling in.. use a little speed on the drill.. If you go slow the bit
will jump..

Dave, don't worry I'll take my time on this. Remember, I'm the one who's put off wiring my roof lights because I'm skiddish about drillin 2 holes for the wires...lol. Worst case I'll get a buddy who works with sheet metal to do it. In any case there will be drillin done cause those lights are getting wired as well.

Greg why not just run the wires in thru the door and down the weather stripping? Thats what I did and it's been fine for a couple years now.

What about the poly version on eBay anyone try that yet? Says navara in huge letters on it. But reasonable

Ben

FWIW, the compatibility check says yes to a 2001 Frontier, but no to a 2000 Frontier, or either 2000 or 2001 xterra...wonder what's not compatible? I feel like this could work...

I'm guessing the reason they say no to those models is because the internal plumbing pieces won't line up. Because the body shape didn't really change. If you plumb it your self with your own tubing then it should work.

That's what I think too. Price is right. And I kind of like that it says Navara on the side....exotic!

hmmm - description says customs fees are additional. Anyone know what those would be, if any?

Where's it shipping from? I used to have stuffed shipped to me all the time when I was in Germany and didn't pay customs fees. Had everything from video games to non fluid containing car parts. Some of the stuff even came from China and didn't get hit with anything. Without having actually looked at sounds like somebody is trying to pocket some extra money.

If it ships to the US from China, it will have to pass through US Customs and you or the seller will have to cover the Customs fees. I know this because US Customs confiscated my HID kit I bought off eBay because they are illegal to use as headlights in vehicles that did not come from the manufacturer with HID's. I tried to argue that they were for a lighting project on a boat but they wouldn't hear it. Anyway, that's irrelevant. What is relevant is that you have to pay customs fees for anything coming in from China.

Sounds like I got lucky with my companies then, either that or they bundled the customs fees and didn't tell me.

Tim, I thought about that a while ago. But somewhere I read (don't know where) another person did that and it started leaking. The drilling looked to be the best way to prevent leakage with gromets and sealer. I'm just putting it off until I get the dual battery setup and installed. Yet another project waiting for spring.

Yeah I didn't want to drill into the roof so I ran mine down the weather strip. No leaks for me. If you want pics let me know.

Always want pic...lol. However, I'm gonna be different(as usual). I'd planned to run the wires thru the middle rack foot and down the pillar behind the drivers seat to the power station where the back seat would be. Taking them out for the battery, relay, fuses and stuff. Gonna be a 2 seater X since it's only me 99% of the time.

Got a message just now...snorkel has been shipped...woohoooo

If your gonna run dual batts and don't mind going towards the back. Which you obviously don't since your ok with killing the back seats check out the write up Oz did. I've been looking at his setup and I'm definitely liking it.

Don't see a writup by Oz in the DIY section, got a link? I've already talked to Kodiac, ARB and a few folks that have dual batts. I've got the design and parts list about 98% complete just waiting to start buying stuff.

Ok I remember the write up...I made a comment in it and spoke to him too. See the problem with his version for me is that storage space in the back of the Gen2. Gen1's don't have it. However the concept and the equipment are sound and I did use his logic in my process for behind front seat placement.

Yeah only thing that scares me about the poly ethylene version. Is if it's a UV safe plastic. I've seen arb put out a warning against the Chinese copies. But, there again that's arb talking not the manufacture. Don't want it to crack and fade.

Yeah Arb warnings...grain of salt. I would not buy a chinese knock-off of an ARB locker, because they're engaging in intellectual theft. Is the same true of the snorkels? Is there anything proprietary about them? As far as the UV rating, i imagine I could rub some sunscreen on em...

Yeah I feel the same at the worst just paint it like you do the rest of your plastics. I've had my eye on the plastic version a long time as I feel its probably smoother on the inside and flows better. Flexible to which is nice if the snork gets caught on a tree branch.

Been reading on them for a year or so the landcruiser guys have had no issues with the plastic. I'd spring for it if I had the cash.
