haha yea hopefully it will all go on next weekend too. And yea, I had a decent amount left over from buying the xj/selling the xterra. But actually as of now I have less invested total in the cherokee than what I sold the xterra for.

Looking nice man!

I gotta ask...why sell the X for the Jeep? Not in an anti-jeep way...but I was curious why sell one off roading modified SUV to get another? More aftermarket support? Like red? Wanted a cheaper SUV to build?

I mean...you obviously didn't sell the X to get great gas mileage or anything

:sure:

thank you! Basically a combination of all those factors. I really wanted a solid axle upfront but knew I couldn't afford it for the xterra. I liked the aftermarket support of Cherokees and for my money I could build it up to be a little more capable than where my X was at when I sold it. I liked my X, just wanted to try something else!

Makes sense...I too wish I had the solid front axle...Look forward to more updates!

Haven't been on here in a while, or a computer really for that matter...anyways went wheeling this weekend with my local club. Had a ton of fun and got a few decent pics. got some light trail damage on the a pillar from bumping a tree, and tore a fender flare on, but thats all getting fixed. Next plans are a 50" curved double row led light bar and a rear bumper and tire carrier. On to the pics!

Thats's all for now, need to go catch up on what has happened here since I've been away!

Nice pics man!!!!

My brother is starting to get into offroading some after being in my Xterra so I am trying to convince him to pick up a Jeep like this one...Tons of them available in our area and for CHEEP

Love what you done with it...

though I still miss that flashy YellowX

Nice looking Cherokee, man. Tons of them in my area....literally...tons. That's all people have here. Some are nice....some...well, not so nice. As much as it hurts to say, they are quite capable little rigs with an enormous aftermarket following. Cheap parts readily available, too. One of the reasons I had to let my X go. As much as I loved it, I didn't have the income to afford anything I actually WANTED for it. So, now I'm living the Solid axle life as well...just larger and with more power and at the moment....more rust XD. Looks good though, keep up the mods!

I totally understand where you're coming from. I knew I wanted a solid axle in my X, but just didn't have the means of making that happen. Lots of Cherokee where I am from too, most of them are in pretty rough shape too!

Thanks! I am loving my Cherokee so far, I would definitely recommend it to someone else. The only thing, I would try to find and XJ with the np231 t case and the Chrysler 8.25" rear. I was lucky and ended up having this in my xj, but other choices for t case and rear axle leave a lot to be desired! I too miss my X at times, I am just curious to see it now to see if the new owner has changed anything. he lives relatively close to me, so hopefully I will soon! I was thinking he might post up on here...no way he can't see the giant XN banner across the windshield on it haha.

It was a lot of fun, had a decent turn out for the first run too, about 20 trucks I believe. we will be having another event later this summer too!

got the 50" curved in the mail....just waiting on a bracket for it. Not really something I can make myself, but every fab shop I've talked to doesn't want to do it. Been working a lot and also have a bit set aside for the truck, so bumpers will be coming soon!

Like your XJ. Around here there are tons of them around. I think because of the aftermarket parts. For these trucks its as easy as go online, pick the height of lift you want, pay with the credit card, it gets shipped and in one weekend you have it all easily fitted and running. With an xterra like mine I have spent 8 months doing it all custom work, takes time and costs a lot more. Huge deciding factor why its easy to go with Jeep especially.

yea it's definitely easier to find readily available cheap parts for jeeps than it was for my xterra. Like you I made a good deal of the mods on my xterra, with the jeep some of this stuff is actually cheaper to buy than I can even make it for.

With that being said...picked up a pair of bumpers from affordable offroad last weekend for a great price at the 4wheel jamboree in bloomsburg pa. I have a few changes to make that I already planned on, just wanted to get them on for the time being though. In the next few weeks I plan to do the cut and fold on the rear lower quarters and use 2x3 steel tube to make the bumper wrap around the side. I'll also be using 2x3 in the front of the bumper on the sides. Till then here's some pics from today! Also installed some rustys offroad rocker sliders, I'll post pics of those when I get a chance.

Thanks! been busy the past few weeks....I was getting sick of hitting my head on the ceiling and having back pain everytime I drove somewhere, so I cut Down the seat brackets an inch and a half and had my dad weld them back up. I was also tired of the squishy stock seats so I went to the local pick and pull and scored a really nice deal on a full zj grand cherokee leather interior. I got a lot more headroom and leg room in the front now.

Also did the cut and fold on the rear quarter panels and tried to fix some rust. It's not perfect but it'll stop the rust from spreading further. I have the pieces cut to make the bumpers wrap around the side, just need to weld them in.

Also got my rusty's rocker sliders installed about a month ago, never got a pic. Hopefully I'll get to test them out sometime soon this fall!
