Hello to you all
I am a new member, and a happy owner of XTERRA 2006
This car is great. The drive system is powerful. LSD, LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL, LOW DRIVE.
I wonder what I should check after buying, and what to watch.
This is one of the few pieces of riding in Poland.

Welcome! You didn't say if it was a manual or an automatic. If it is an automatic, keep an eye out for what we call the Strawberry Milkshake of Death. Basically, the transmission cooler breaks down and mixes with the engine coolant. It is preventable and pretty easy to deal with if your coolant is still clean.

My X is an automatic, I still thinking about the transmission cooler. You say that it is preventable and pretty easy to deal with this. What do you man? What can I do?

There are two hoses that go to the bottom of the radiator that feeds transmission fluid through a separate section. What happens is that over time the transmission fluid eats through the wall separating the transmission cooler and the radiator.

The short term fix is removing the two lines and joining them together to bypass the stock transmission cooler.

The long term fix is a dedicated transmission cooler that is seperate from the radiator and flush and fill the transmission with Matic-S fluid. You can also replace the entire radiator with a new one and do the same fliuid change. That allows you to use the factory integrated transmission cooler.

Is this something that was corrected through a recall. How do you know if it was corrected or not.

Congrats Poland, welcome to the club...GM

You want to use S, not J. J is what came during the SMOD era and S replaced it.

It was never recalled, but the warranty on the transmission was (partially) extended on this issue through 100K. You'll still pay through the nose if it breaks, but the dealer is supposed to reduce the amount based on mileage. Have a dealer run your VIN to see if any replacement was done.

What I would do if I was in your situation is I would find an aftermarket trans cooler with a in and out line that is equal size to the hoses that go into the bottom of the radiator. Then install this trans cooler and attach the hoses. Finding a trans cooler of there has to be cheaper then shipping one from over here.
