Will PML stack with a real suspension lift?

Title says it all, will getting longer shackles and all that jazz stack with a real suspension lift kit, or no? It might be a silly question, but i'm a silly person.

Thanks in advance! :D

i think i had this same question once, i too have a pml on my X. they way i plan on going from 1.5" to the full 3" lift like 4x4 parts sells is buy all the parts one by one rather than in a kit. since we have the 1.5" lift shackles, to lift the rear up to 3" of lift i plan on getting the AAL pack for the other 1.5". for the front you just need UCAs, upper ball joints, and T-bars if you want. if you get the 3 leaf add a leaf with the lift shackles then youll be at near 5" in the rear. witch looks kinda funny lol.

if you where to order a full 3" lift kit and you allready have the pml on your truck then you would be over paying cuz you would also buy again what you already have.

hope i answered your question.

if you are talking about adding the uca, shocks, tb and such yes.. the tb's are how you get it to sit more even along with the uca. on mine i have hd tb's and is sit almost even rear and front.

I always like responding to threads like this with images:

And as far as whether or not it will "stack" with a real suspension lift, it is a real suspension lift. Just a matter of the height you are looking for. I'll think you get a resounding response to do a PML and 2" BL to get the most bang for your buck. They'll get you to clear 33's and that will help you "stack" up with a "real" SL on the trails

So, buying a 3 in suspension lift kit, WILL NOT add another 3 in to my 1.5 in correct?

I love seeing evened out lifts, will the PML and the BL get me to that even point? Or will I have to end up buying some parts from a suspension kit?

Nice pic Xearth!

Correct. The PML is PART OF the 3" SL.

They came factory with the rake for a reason. As if the lift wouldn't kill your fuel mileage on its own, evening it out would SERIOUSLY kill it. It messes up the aerodynamics. That's why my PML is as low as it is in the front.

That is correct, and depending on how much you get our the front when you crank the torsion bars will determine how level it will be. The BL will not add any rake. And thank ya much

The jury is out on whether or not you actual lose mileage leveling the truck out... Im sure you lose a little bit but how much is a matter of debate... I was around 17 or so without being level ( bigger tires) leveled the truck out, body lift, and some new wheels and im at about 15 or 16 depending on how its drove...the lowest ive seen after everything is 14 mpg

I'm currently stock rake with just a 2" BL now and 33's. My mpg's are in the 10-14 range. The lowest I've veer gotten was 8. lol

Holy cow Xado! That is ridiculously low.. Ever since I got my 31's I dropped about 2 miles or so. I still get around 320 miles on a tank though.

I just sanded em and used rustoleum on em. My poor mileage is prob due to my tires also, they are 12+ years old and have very aggressive tread on them.

There's a plastic cover right on the front of the wiper arm. I think it's a 10mm nut. Just unscrew it and wiggle the arm off, it may be stuck on there pretty good, could try some PB on it as well tapping it gently.

i too did not level out my X after the PML. i found the factory ride height with 31" tires and just added 1.5". its a hell of a lot easier to do when you got a lift. hehe!
but driving around the day before i cranked the tbars with the rear lifted was freakin wierd lol

I think I might just keep the pml then.. The BL looks like too much time, and I just dont have a lot of that.

And I bet it was weird Jim ahaha. Is it possible to level out my X with just the PML or will I have to buy UCA or something?

the only way to level with a pml would be to do half of it... Crank your torsion bars up, and swap back to your stock shackles.

Im running a t-bar crank and body lift on mine

Well, Ivan doesnt like the cold AT ALL. When he was up in Penn he was lucky to get 230 a tank. But I just recently bought a housee near Myrtle Beach, and on the move down I got about 320. And that was all highway at 65 mph. So maybe not the most accurate guess, I'd say more around 290 maybe? But still, definitely better than 200..

And Az, your X is quite nice. It upsets me to hear you only get 200 a tank doe. :/

And Xado, ever since i deleted the resonators, I'm been slowly but surely making my way to bombing out of green lights and whatnot..

How on earth do you get 12+ years out of a set of tires? I seriously get a new set every 2 years and that's pushing it!

I haven't had them for twelve years. My tire is a BFG KM's original, they don't make them anymore. The tire shop guessed it was about 10 or so years old though. Sadly they are starting to dry rot on me finally. Good thing I didn't pay a whole lot for them. XD My guess is they sat around moving from shop to shop for a while and then the guy I bought them off had them on a play toy he said he barley got to take out. They had about 80-90% tread when I bought them, about 75% now.

I was gonna say! Lol. I just put BFG's on my boys X. I hope he gets a few years out of them but he is young and can't seem to stay out of the mud holes. I'm guessing maybe 2 years.

These tires are damn good. It's a shame they are dry rotting. I guess I can't expect forever out of them though. Plans to move to Falken's or Goodyear next I think.
