That's right, we are doing it again -
The 2nd Annual Wheel Away Winter!

Last year we had a great time up at Flag Pole so why not do it all over again? Only difference this year is we will not be camping at the actual Flag Pole. Instead we will set up camp down the road, along one of the main trails. Nick, Mitchell, Randy, and I noticed they are bit more sheltered and we can pull off the trail versus being right in the middle.

This is a weekend event - So we are talking 3/27 to 3/29. I understand not everyone can make it up on Friday and some people might not be able to camp. But we will be up there all weekend - so even if you can't make it the whole time hopefully you can make it for at least one day or night.

More information such as meet up places, CB channels, convoys and such are to come. There is an event page made for it on Facebook as well.

Hope everyone can make it!

Some basic information about WAW and what you should bring.

Meet up location... no question will be 798 E. Market street, Harrisonburg VA. (Sheetz gas station). This is the best place to fill up, grab last minute groceries supplies and park any non 4x4 vehicles across the street. Its also a pivotal point on which trail head to take.

If camping Friday and or Saturday absolutely must have no questions:

-Shelter - Tent or truck. (and would be nice to know this in advance to help plan camp site logistics.

-Cold weather sleeping bag regardless of staying in truck. I recommend 0 degree or better. (its primitive camping in the mountains)

-B.Y.O.Beverage. Everyone responsible for your own drink and snacks.

-Cold weather gear - good jackets, gloves, hats, boots.

-Food (open discussion to take place on this. We can do an everyone fend for yourselves thing, or a group thing once a day, with fending for your self later on, more to come on this)

-Bedding / toilet paper / trashbags. (if everyone has these things then we should have plenty.)

-Food condiments & consumables.

DO NOT RULES:
NO DRINKING AND DRIVING ON OR OFF ROAD.
NO CARRYING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WHEN WHEELIN.
NO OPEN FIREARMS ON TRIP *
NO BLAZING NEW TRAILS OR CUTTING DOWN TREES.
NO ILLEGAL DRUGS OR SUBSTANCES

*(concealed carry as it pertains to local provisions, this is not a VAXC rule, this is a local law. This event is taking place at a State Park and we need to abide by the rules. Concealed Carry is okay with proper permit)

I've got this on the calendar and planning on being there. I may end up coming up Friday evening and then coming home on Saturday night; I'll have to play it by ear.

Anyone else bringing their little ones?

Only Two More Weeks!!!
As we fast approach that the 27th we want to get a head count and a general idea of when people will be showing up to either camp or wheel.
With that - if you do fully plan on attending this event, can you please message me the following information:

1. Will you be coming on Friday or Satruday?
2. Will you be camping?
3. How many drivers / riders not on invite in your crew?
4. if camping, are you sleeping in tent or truck?
5. Any special requests? (i.e. will have trailer, can't get there till....)

This is in an effort to make sure we don't leave anyone at the meet up spot at the head of the trail. We want to make sure everyone who plans on attending can do and have a blast.

We do not have any weather reports available just yet, so everyone keep your fingers crossed for some sun and warm weather as we say adios to winter and hello spring!

If you have any questions, please feel free to message us (yes, we are a page on facebook now), Josh Foster or Daniel Reeder .
Thank you everyone!

you rock, exactly what we need.

So far I have a total of 14 confirmed drivers for this. We will have maybe about 20 people up on the ridge, so that will be a good trip.

Attention VAXC Members:

If you have personal pictures from the WaW Trip that you want posted on the website's image gallery for this event please send them to me via PM. If you have too many to post PM me for my email address and you can send them in bulk. We aprpeciate any pictures you can send. The site is very useful to us, we talk mostly on Facebook, but the website is a major point in the club's recruitment of members. Any images that can help others feel like we're the club for them to join only helps us in the future! :)

We did it!

We damn near froze our butts off, but we did it. We wheeled, we camped, we joked, and we ate steak on sticks. I would consider that a success.
I really appreciate and want to thank each and every person who came this weekend. Everyone I talked to said they had fun and that they can't wait to get back out on the trails. Even the few of us that had trail damage had a blast. That what this is all about and hearing that everyone enjoyed themselves makes setting these events up totally worth it.

Big shout out to Daniel Reeder for not only being a great VP bu also for getting all the logistics of this together. He does a great job of making my crazy idea a reality and I love it.

Also, to our trail leaders - Stephen Bingemer and Donnie. Big thanks out to you both for leading everyone out and staying safe.

And thank you to Carrie Beasley and Anthony for keeping us all warm.

You guys all rock and events like this make me proud to call myself president.
Be on the look out for the next event in May!!
