Hello fellow xterra owners . I'm brand new to this forum and i'm happy to be here and hope all of you folks are well. I have a 2003 six speed 2 wheel drive and i let it sit up for 3 months and bought a new battery for it, put it in and it wouldn't do anything. It was like the battery wasn't even in it. No lights whatsoever. Even the little red security light wouldn't even blink. S i check all of the connections were all tight. Tried it again and nothing and it was getting late so i quit messing with it. Went back out there the next day and somehow everything was on,i cranked it up and rode around thje block a couple of times and it ran great. That was Wednesday and i went out Saturday and nothing again, no lights or anything. Went back out Monday and everything was fine, ran great. Then Wednesday and nothing again and that's where i am now. Nothing works no matter what i do. I'm hoping some of you folks have seen this problem before or have some ideas as to what could be causing this and can point me in the right direction. Thanks and i'm looking forward to communicating with you folks going forward. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again, Karey

I would look carefully at your battery terminals. It sounds like one is probably broken and only making intermittent contact.

Good morning TerryD, I hope you are well. I thought i already checked that but i'll definitely take a closer look at that. That's a pretty easy task but now that i think about it sometimes the small things are assumed to be ok. Thanks for the suggestion. Much appreciated.
Thank you

Next time its dead. No dash lights Etc..
take a meter, test at the Battery terminal.. Then work your way deeper into the Vehicle. Probing Power path.. as with Return side.
neg cable to frame, Etc..

Turn head lights on.. wiggle power cables.
check fuses to make sure they are seated.
scrub Battery post with wire brush, as with Clamps..
Confirm Battery is good charged, no dead cell's.. etc...

simple side, for the easy fix.
Hope yea track it down and find the issues..
all I got.. sounds like yea been doing that as well..
