Transfer Case is leaking at front drive shaft

I was under it yesterday to replace the front sway bar bushings and take off the rear sway bar. I noticed some wetness on the drive shaft safety loop and some drops on the gas tank. I followed it forward until I noticed it was wet above the transfer case and the area around front drive shaft. I just replaced the fluid this past fall and no leak at that time.

It looks like where the front drive shaft meets transfer case is slinging fluid. I plan to drop it off at the dealership tomorrow. It should be covered under the extended warranty. If not, has anyone had this issue before and what was the fix?

Thanks

Front output seal. I can't remember how you get to it. It should be covered under your extended warranty though

You get to it by taking off the front shaft, then the big nut on the output flange. The flange will come off, giving you access to the seal. Pull the seal out, grease up the new seal and install it, with a bit of silicon around the outside of the seal mounting surface. Install the flange, then the front driveshaft. Fill the t-case up to full, all set.

Mines leaking too.. well the rear is, after replacing the seal twice in a matter of 2 weeks. Thankfully MDPhotos has a parts rig, I'm grabbing the driveshaft and the evap canister and evap sensor from since mine has been throwing my CEL for a few months now. Good luck man. No one likes a leaky shaft.:uhhh:

Hey Nox, what year is yours? I don't guess we have seen many of these seals leaking but just wanted to get more information on this thread for future searchers and what the outcome of the fix is.

I just heard back from the dealership. It is the electric switch that is leaking according to the tech. It is covered under warranty, but they won't have the part in until next week. They said I should be OK for the road trip i have planned this weekend.

I'm also going to have the coolant changed and the oil since it is covered.
