Transfer Case Front Seal

I just crawled under my X for a inspection and I see that my whole transfer case pan is all wet. I investigate further and it looks like the front output shaft seal i bad. I'm going to bring it into Nissan tomorrow for hopefully under warranty repair. We will see how that goes. Anything I should know before I bring it in? Is this a common issue? Would it be safe to still drive to Eastern TN for fun this weekend? How much of a need to fix this asap is it?

All the wet looking stuff is oil.

Just make sure there is no mud or signs of abuse and Nissan should take care of it. Your still under warranty right?

I've had the vehicle for under a year. Signs of abuse hmm. I'm TS'ed. and it shows some off-roading. Can't scrub that away. I have at least 3 Nissan dealers nearby to bring to. Time to figure out the best one.

Avoid J.P. Thibodaux in New Iberia. They will look for any excuse not to honor the warranty.

I went to Giles Nissan on the north west side. They where great. I was expecting a phone call of we can't cover this then they called me saying its ready to go. With the amount of modifications I have done it would not be hard to point out where extra "stress" was caused. And they orignaly told me wensday so that is two thumbs up for them.

Glad to see Nissan is taking care of this for you

Yes I am to. in the end all I know was it was a defective part in the transfer case. I picked it up as they closed so no one with knowledge was still around. All the receipt says is "KB54AA RPL Transfer Center Case Oil Seal". So I'm guessing this means the center seal where the case splits?
