The cold is doing damage to my X...

Yeah, it's been relatively cold around the eastern part of the US as of lately.

Earlier yesterday morning, I was starting the X up and I let go on the starter, but it still gave in and turned the vehicle on. Later, I started it up again and I think it might've done something to the starter. Later that afternoon it sounded okay, which lead me into my next problem...

As I was driving, I kept hearing a rattle coming from the back/rear hatch. Everything was intact and I even shut the hatch door a few times to see of the sensor was off or something.

So those are my stories. Anyone else getting minor problems in this Polar Vortex? Stories from the past and/or present?

Ice builds up around the body of the truck and creates a creaking. Usually on the sliders to the rocker panel.

Power steering pump sounds like its mixing gravel in this cold weather.

I can't downshift to 2nd gear till the trans warms up the syncro.

I took my floor mat out to drain the water this morning put it back in started the truck and bounced off the red line on a cold start. Floor mat was over the gas pedal.

On days it snows and the engine is cold it bucks and kicks randomly.

Does tackle the roads like nothing else. Especially, with my new narrow 33's.

Yeah, I hear that up top especially because of the sunroof. But I narrowed it down to the rear. I'm assuming it's ice that's frozen within the seal of the hatch (I can't even open it up). I'm just waiting for it to warm up. But you guys may be correct, roof rack or sliders.

Definitely had some problems getting my doors open...on the up-side...the door handles are pretty durable and won't break off in your hand like they do with the other stuff in my driveway.

My X has problems shifting when it's very cold, but it does normal once it's warmed up.....I haven't checked into if it's a real problem or just a quirk.

I was up in South Dakota over my Christmas vacation from work..chose that time to do the body lift as well. It never got above negative the entire time, and with wind chill was actually around -20 or so for most of my trip.

My tally:
Got stuck in some powder. Very embarrassing, as I am from South Dakota but have lived in Tennessee for a little over a decade. Sad.
Battery died on day two. To give it credit, it was the factory battery from 2002. Warranty ended on it in 09..so I'd say it performed admirably.
Power steering was pissed. Still is on cold days now that I'm back home. Sometimes makes noise even when warmed up, and I'm not sure if I screwed something up during the lift..if anyone has any advice about that, I'd appreciate it. The steering wheel itself squeaks when the pump is making noise too. Worries me a little bit.

That trip sealed the deal on me never moving back home though. Lol.

Oh nice man. Don't be afraid to add me on FB.

Yeah, it seems that the problems went away on my X. I was going to wash my X to rid all the salt off of it yesterday, but it looks like we're getting a round three of the polar vortex here in KY.

Its regularly -30 or -40 up here in the winter, just start it up and let it warm up some before you go anywhere as for clunks.... ice builds up everywhere and makes quite the racket.
