Good afternoon everybody, so a few weeks ago in my Auto Technician training classes i ran an Ome test on some of my wires. turns out they had doubled to amount of Omes per-foot than spec so long story short they gotta come out. So i was looking threw 4x4 parts and i found the high performance wires that i see a lot of guys run for a non SC 3.3 witch i have. link>> https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/high-performance-spark-plug-wires-p-1660.html

so my real question is, with my platinum plugs is there any other brand that can mach those wires but maybe cheaper, or maybe even better???

thanks-BIGJIM.

i wanted to order those to but 130 for wires? is it really worth it?

well with my few months of professional automotive training we have gone over price vs. quality of what your getting. so there has to be some reason why they cost that much.
plus i never try to cheap out on things like this. thats why im in such a rut right now.

"professional automotive training" lol i sound like such a tool :dead:

I got the NGK plugs but that's it. The guy behind the counter only showed me Bosch and Duralast wires and I didn't even think of asking about any other options.
ya when i asked also i only got the dura and bos ones too. i was looking for red wires to match my truck but are rare to come across.

AutoZone can order them (what they call a VDP, or Vendor Direct Product) if they don't have them at the HUB store. I've never seen an AutoZone stock any other wireset besides Duralast (their brand) and Bosch.

To me, being an audio guy, wire is wire; you could use barbed wire if you insulate it enough. I think you'll run into a problem trying to get onto the even plugs. You may need to try to repurpose the existing boots as the wire just passes through (ask me how I know)

Its a
lot of work just to get them red. I wouldn't try and skimp on another brand just for a color.. Just use some red electrical tape on the NGK's if you really want em red.

i thought about that and ordered NGK. i got a can of engine spray so i'm using that.

i got the NGK wires this past weekend, they are all in but the 6th one. i might have to go to my mentors shop to take my throttle body off later this week. i havnt gotten any lights on the dash even though i know that old wire on cylinder 6 is a retardener. when i was replacing them i even took my hood off to see if i could get to it, but no dice. the damn boot keeps catching on the T-body.

before i have to go to Devcon 3 and take the T-body off, anyone got any tricks to get the little SOB out?

Pull up, inline with how it sits. Once it's unseated, tilt the wire end towards the passenger side to clear the brake lines. You'll have to play a little tetris to get it to clear everything, but it'll come. If the boot's coming up but you're not able to twist it around, the boot may have separated from the wire. Try to feel back there (or get a mirror) to see if the wire is still attached.

Have to do it by touch not by sight. You can fit a finger back there to feel. Ok plug is here...... boot is here..... slowly pop together... if it makes you feel better it took a experienced shop mechanic like myself the better apart of 40 minutes to put the boot on. The ideal tool would of been a bore scope to see the action. Its more disorientation then anything else. Plug is at a pretty good angle lots of junk to catch on as well as limited room.

Is RockMart.com a pretty good place to order from? Pretty reliable? Advance Auto Parts wants $75.99 for those exact plug wires. So RockMart will be my choice then. I also saw parts for another vehicle on there a lot cheaper.
