I was unsure of where to post this thread but Im looking at getting a snatch strap and getting rid of my chains for many reasons.

what brands do you recommend? ARB seems to be the favorite that Iv looked at. Also do I want the 2" wide rated at 17,600lbs or the 3" wide rated at 24000lb?

Id carry a chain w/ the snatch strap just to be safe.

As for the size id go 24,000 but then again, I tend to be overkill when it comes to recovery gear.:D

I have the 17k ARB, you don't really want a snatch strap overrated, you won't get near enough (or any) of the stretching action that it is designed for, it will still work fine for pulling though. Chains only useful for skidding stuff or tensioning up a hi-lift or used for static recovery situations (like using a rock/boulder for a winch pull), never shock load it, even then Grade 70 transport chain at a minimum.

How about the Smittybilt straps?

this caught my attention because its much better priced than the others

I believe i have that one, got if off amazon shipped free, I havent had to use it yet, but it had decent reviews so i figured for the price this was better than nothing. and it seems like the biggest complaint people have off the website you posted is that they wanted a different color

I bought that exact Smittybuilt:

I used it about 4 days after I received it with this:

During a snow storm, a lady drove into the median, I pulled her, not snatched, out. I came about 10-15 feet from the guardrail on the other side of the road. Made it just fine. Worked fantastic. It was my first recovery.

side note: anybody ever notice the "auto save" that appears when you type up a reply? AWESOME!!
