Remote starters

So, I know very little about these and I was thinking of installing one, seeing how I need a new key fob (yeah a 20$ part calls for replacing it with a remote starter.. Come on, we are XN right?)

So I searched for them on here and couldn't find a dedicated thread for them.

So here it is, "the dedicated remote starter thread".

So please do inform me, us, the Nation about remote starters, if you know anything about them. Brands, specs.. Everything

Idk a whole lot about them. I have a viper (alarm, keyless entry, and remote start system) on my 94 f-150. It has been on there for 9 years and It still works great. The range has droped a little bit, from 500 ft to around 400-350(probably the old remotes, fobs), but I love it. The model probably isn't made anymore, but it is a good brand to look for at least. New in 2003 it was around 280-300 installed in Houston,Tx. I know they can be expensive, but well worth it. Some will let you start the vehicle from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection. That would be awesome for someone who travels or is out of town a lot.
