XTerrans!! I am excited to be a part of the group! Just got my first X today. 2002 SE supercharged, and so far no Knock sensor problems. :) This really seems like a great crew and I hope to learn a lot. I am a full novice but quick learner and hope to pick up some tips and hopefully share my experiences of tricking out my new baby. Here are a few things that I am going to do:

1) remove and recondition/paint bumpers, and grills.
2) 2-3" lift.
3) tbd....

Really I am willing to take any suggestions on any cool tweaks to steering, suspension, or other adjustments that you think might beast it up.

Look forward to hearing from you all!

Welcome from western Colorado. My wife has a supercharged 03 and she loves it. If you really want good ideas goneMoab is just around the corner. I always come back with a long list of mods to the trucks after that.

Welcome in!

Robcarync has a very good compilation of great (usually free) things you can do when getting a new 1st Gen, hopefully he'll chime in with it :)

#3 tires .... Nailed it. On the roof rack, the nissan decal is starting to come off. Have any of you guys pulled that front flap off and repainted it? Or even replaced the Nissan Decal?

Graveyardgraphics.com is a sponsor here and has an amazing selection of Xterra specific decals. Including replacement "XTERRA" decals for the first and second gen roof racks, in a variety of colors.

The Best part about ShaneOStyle Is that he is the hands down best cookie baker I have ever met! SHane and I were BFF/Neighbors until about 6 months ago he up and moved to Utah. He had the joy of watching me drive my Xterra's into the dirt and then putt through the neighborhood all loud and dirty. Then he Txts me on my mod day. "hey brotha" I bought an Xterra"....Awsome....but...bad timing man...bad timing! I would have loved to have been able to help you do all the mods and get you all hooked up...guys I will have to help introduce you to some of my Utah Peeps!! And you know I will always trade parts(and my soul) if necessary for them snicker-doodles!!!

I did that not to long ago. Email Graveyard Graphics and tell him you need a new roof cowl decal. He'll hook you up.

So the clean up and upgrades have begun. Just ripped out the stock radio and installed a pioneer sound system, with 2 front pioneer gold speakers. I will eventually throw in 2 more with a 10" jbl in the back. ACDC doesn't need much base though.

I also did some restoration on that cursed fadin plastic. All the handles and roof rack covers restored quiche nicely with this "Wipe New" product. It is supposed last a long time. I'll let you all know if it works.

Also got the AC recharged and now my ride feels epic.

So upcoming projects:

Pulling the grill and headlight covers. Grooters recommended the Krylon fusion. I'll get some after pics when it's done

Graveyard graphics has some roof rail decals and cowl stickers coming. Will be throwing those on when they arrive.

Thinking about adjusting the torsion bar but my novice fear of screwing something up is setting off alarms. Any comfort and guidance from the X-Men will be appreciated.

Much more to come. Getting more and more addicted....

How many dozen for a set of sliders?

Also so i'm not derailing the thread... torsion bars aren't that scary once you just get under there and start working em. I figured it out eventually.

x2 on that. I was super nervous until I actually crawled under there and just did it.
Do you have to rotate your tires more often? Also, do you have to put the truck on a jack before you can start cranking? Anyone got any quick pics of how far in the the bolts are for ya?

Again, I am a super novice here.

Graveyard Graphics strikes again! For anyone looking to add the decals and make their X a little more badass, get Graveyard to hook you up.

Repainted the top rails and what not. Your thoughts?

So I have done a few more changes to the car, mostly utility and cosmetic because those are the easiest. Installed an LED light (as mentioned on another thread). Also played around with plastidip. Also installed flush mount LEDs on the rear bumpers. Damn tinting in the back window was so dark I couldn't see.

Fellow UT xterra owner!

Uncanny! I just picked up a '02 SE S/C, same color as yours, same wheels and everything. I live in salt lake, loving the truck so far. Just curious, what sort of mileage are you getting out of yours?

If you're getting 17 hwy, you are winning. I get single digits around town and MAYBE 15hwy.
