A guy with a 2nd gen frontier told me about these, they seem like a good alternative to the expensive ARB. Anyone know anything about them? Good or are they junk? Seems like I could lock the front end for pretty inexpensive.:lolz:

-Thanks

I read the FAQs and basically but in not so direct words, it's to me NOT for onroad driving. They state some problems can occur. However it sounds great for dedicated offroad usage.

I personally wouldn't want one in a daily driver. But in a trail truck, even one that's street legal to drive to and from the trails, I'd consider it.

That's basically what my rig is these days. We take my gf's car everywhere for the better MPG. But the guy who has a 2nd gen frontier 4x4 is looking at one too, I think his truck is a DD. I don't do enough hardcore offroading to necessarily need one right now however. Other things I'd rather get before hand like skids/sliders considering I did smack my tranny kind of hard a few weeks back.

Thanks for the input guys. I like hearing everyone's thoughts and opinions on products, especially people with rigs similar to mine. Appreciate it all!

sounds like similar reactions i had when i welded my axle. selectable lockers are always the best yet most expensive route as they work only when you want. a limited slip works only when it sees fit. the reason id say go for it is that it would be for front ehich wont be used untilyou put it into 4x4. however since its limited slip you could in theory activate the locker without being in 4x4 if you were to hit a slick piece of road and you were to slide, you could then activate the locker thus making turning extremely hard and could cause an accident.

Yeah we don't have that, unfortunately. You'll find a LOT of differences between the generations.

From the FAQ section on LOKKA's page...

Q13. What do you mean by automatic?

LOKKA's design is actually as an automatic "UN-locker" ie. it is normally locked and automatically unlocks when differential action is required. ie. the outside wheel in the corner "overruns" the speed of the inside wheel. There are no switches, electrical, pneumatic or external connections required.

These work fine for DD's but!!!!
The rear lockers are known to wear tires..
If this is like most they tend to click when your turning..

And in ice and snow can be tricky to operate. But many Jeepers run this type with little issue
