I have a cpl Kero burners but haven't lit em, yet. That's bright, I think those 2chgs have thiridium or whatever radioactive stuff..
I've got a few 242s that had crap in there, small filler hole sux! I've got one with a golfers pencil in it!Couple days of running the 288a on kero and it's doing great.
I started on my 242C but the fount is full of some kinda crap. Got it soaking full of Mean Green so in a bit, I'll hobble out and give it a shake and refill.
It may wind up just being parts if there's too much damage
Not for a long time. OCP has a painted 242 fount. Gonna check the rest of the parts out and probably order it.Are you on The CCF, The Coleman Collectors Forum?
Cool. I was gonna say, I've picked up some good parts for next to nothing, some for free99, by posting a WTB or ISO add in their classifieds. Not for a long time. OCP has a painted 242 fount. Gonna check the rest of the parts out and probably order it.
228E and a Turd!View attachment 31669View attachment 31670View attachment 31671Finally dug mine out of the shop tonight. Need a clean and going through.
Need
Thanks, I think?228E and a Turd!
They should be super simple. Especially the E. They are killer. I want it if you don't. I'll take the 275 "Turd" as well....Thanks, I think?
Hahaha
I cant honestly imagine ill fix/restore these. But ive had them forever
I would likely sell them to you. As you can see, I don't do anything with them. I got the "turd" to match my bus. I "restored" a coleman stove, painted it brown, had this lantern, brown coleman cooler and water jug that all went with me when I was camping/hiking. I still have all of it, I just never use it.They should be super simple. Especially the E. They are killer. I want it if you don't. I'll take the 275 "Turd" as well....
I think there's a couple of those carbide lights at my Granny's house. I need to check when I'm down there again.View attachment 31692
Don't know if this qualifies as camping related, but years ago I did use these around camp... 1930's 'Guys Dropper' miner's carbide light.
Pretty sure you can get the Fuel from Amazon.. Carbide pellets?. I think...View attachment 31692

Too cool. Never ran across such a thing..Yes- lamp worked with calcium carbide in 'chunk' form, available on the internet. Carbide in the bottom, water in the top. Valve feeds water slowly to the carbide, which produces acetylene gas, which is ignited by the sparker on the reflector. In my experience, they would go for three hours on a charge of carbide. When I was caving, we'd carry extra bottoms charged with carbide and sealed with a lid for quick changes. Worked beautifully unless the valve malfunctioned and all the water went into the carbide at once!
They also made hand lanterns.
That sears looks more Coleman than AGM. Hadn't seen one like that.Mail call!

Cool! Don't have a Kamplite, yet. This Sears is set up like a turd with pump/filler placements but the clocking kinda seems off to me, not sure, I'll have to dig around. That sears looks more Coleman than AGM. Hadn't seen one like that.

I have an old Kamplite.
Improvise! That's cool you got it, looks to be in pretty decent shape.I lucked into this one. Still has the original late 50s Pyrex globe. You have to modify a Coleman 220 generator to work on it though. No AGM gennies since the 60s. *sad*
Was having bad flare-ups no matter what i tried. Had to tear it down and clean cobwebs out of the airtube/mixing chamber and scrape out the gunk obstructing the burner tube that I couldn't see from the outside. Now she runs like a champ and is LOUD like a Milspec!I'll clean the glass here in a sec..Got one! RL-3, late 40's early 50's mfg, should clean up nicely!View attachment 32159

Well dang I may need to list mine thenListed 12 common 220 and 228s and ended up selling 13 and have one left of the original 12. Once I offered shipping they started flying off my shelves~
OohRah!
Wow, that's in awesome shape! I dig the frameless look.
Between 20-35$, they were beaters but all ran good..Well dang I may need to list mine then
I plan to fix/repair/rebuild the brown one, one day, but the green one is extra. Where is the best place to get rebuild parts?
I'm certain that is all the brown one needs. I've never attempted to start the green one.Or ebay if ya know what ya need. It may not need anything but a cleaning, mantles and fresh gas..
