Lancer Issue

So, I know this is primarily an X forum, with heavy doses of other wheelers, but I have a question y'all regarding my Mitsubishi. I ask here because I respect the opinions of those here, and there are a few professional automotive techs who I think should be able to point me in the right direction.

I did a drain and fill on my transmission this past week and afterwards it starting growling when you start from a stand still. I can feel the vibration in the floor and seat, and it only does it in Drive; not Reverse or Neutral. Plug was 'clean' when I drained it (typical black smeg that accumulates); no shavings or teeth like was in Silver Dude's. I'm fairly certain I have the correct amount of fluid in there, but it is hard to read pink fluid on a white stick. The growl happens for a few seconds while accelerating, then it goes away. If I throw the car in Neutral while it does it, the growl stops, but will resume when I put it back in Drive.

I think I know where this is headed, but still appreciate the suggestions.

Stats:
2003 Mitsubishi Lancer
2.0L 4 cyl
Automatic
170,000.

Verify that you installed the correct fluid so many different versions of auto trans fluid any more. For example I work on E350 ford vans at work all the time. Depending on the year and engine in can be Dextron III, Mercon SP, Mercon LX or Transyd.

Verify you have the correct amount of fluid. Checking the fluid after a short drive on level ground while it is running in park. Dry the stick off really well with a towel so its easier to take note of the wet line of fluid. Sometimes a flashlight helps to luminate the fluid line better. Its difficult sometimes I know.

You change the filter to? Or just drain and fill?

I filled it initially with Valvoline Max Life, as it list compatibility with the factory fluid SP-3. After I heard the noise on my test drive, I checked the plug for metal (none) and acquired some SP-3 to fill it with.

Just fluid. You have to remove the tranny from the car to access the filter. Lovely FWD...

Took it by the shop this morning and I have THREE bad engine mounts (out of 4). Glad it was something that easy (and inexpensive) and not a bad tranny.
