Saw this on the MyFaceSpaceBook, sorry man. I assume you're alright, but I'll ask anyway...everyone alright?

It sucks about the bike but at least the Shrock saved your truck. Will insurance cover the bike? Seems as though the Honda got the worst of it at least.

Ya, I'm fine. The Shrock definitely saved the truck. Didn't even break a weld on the receiver but it now points up at a really nice angle. I hope the bike is covered. I paid $3800 for it 2 years ago...

The Shrock is probably OK, but the mount in the frame rail may have slipped to get that angle.

If you have thick frame stiffeners in the frame horns it tend to help reduce that, but it looks to be a reasonably hard hit.

My Shrock was rear ended many times w/o damage....they're pretty tough.....I think mine's TOTALED several vehicles and severely wounded a few more, when it was on my '01, and, I then swapped it onto my '04 last year. (No hits on the '04 after it was installed though, yet)

:D

Do you have frame stiffeners in the frame horns ?

And, the other guy's insurance can pay for repair to the horns or the Shrock if you do find damage.

I DID get damage to the rear suspension, exhaust, and hatch, as parts of his rig broke off and flew under and into my truck....I had pieces of his truck hit the INSIDE of my windshield, etc...it was a mess. His steel bumper hit my spare tire pretty squarely.

He was going ~ 20 mph, I was stopped.

The shrock is bent in the middle. I had a extension in the receiver to get the rack past the tire. The whole bumper is bent and angled up. I can't put a hitch or another rack in it without it being at a ridiculous angle. None of the welds broke that I can see but...
I'm going to see what the insurance people say. I found a couple cracks in the frame of my bike. I went to the shop I bought it all at and the total for the bike and rack is over $4300...I'm curious what they're going to do..I have a appraisal on Monday. Not sure how they'll appraise the Shrock..

TJ, Yes, I had the stiffeners in the horns and all the bolts. Looking at some of the bolts it definitely shifted a little but its clearly caved in. The rack acted like a crumple zone for the element but caused more damage for me. If I didn't have the bike and rack mounted I think it would've been less damage to me. That bumper is a brick sh!t house..:)

Glad everyone is okay. Also glad to know that the Shrock can take a good licking. Best of luck with the other guys insurance. Hope they cover the REDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE BIKE!

Ask Jim at Shrock for a replacement quote, and use that to negotiate its replacement value. Be sure to get shipping as part of that.

One option, if you have full coverage on yours, is to have your insurance pay a claim
And then they will go after the at-fault driver to recoup their costs.

But, yes sadly, insurance companies are ****ty and they are all holding as much money back as possible.

I originally started to go that route since I do..but..since I didn't add aftermarket parts to the policy they were only going to pay for OEM replacement. They weren't going to pay for the bike or rack either..I guess full coverage isn't really full coverage.

F-ya!!! Everything turned out more then alright!! Got to call James at RLC Monday to see if he'll make me a rear..

Do you think anyone would buy a slightly dented Shrock? Can't tow with it but its still usable.

I got FULL reimbursement for everything.I had receipts to back everything up but I was worried they would try to prorate the bumper and bike. They tried at first but after a little back and forth they gave me what I wanted.

I contacted RLC and I guess he's making a rear for someone so I'm going to get one at the same time. I'm thinking he's making Casey's and mine together.
