Thanks guys. I actually hit the corner divers side plastic fender on the drop in the pictures above. Fender ding.jpg

used the heat gun and a little muscle to pop it out
Finder fix.jpg

Is there any magic to clean up the scuffs?

you might want to remove the stock nerf bars ( step bars) they will fold up and damage your rockers if you lean the truck up on them. otherwise great start to a build

as for your questions for scratch removal on the rear corners you can always sand them down a bit and bed line them

Thanks for the advice on the nerf bars. They are going to be removed and replaced with true sliders. As everyone here can attest this isn't cheap!

been there and completely understand. just don't want you to lean the truck on something and get more damage due to those steps.

Need Bigger Tires
Not sure if they are still available on tnx (or, the site that shall not be mentioned), but someone had posted plans for some white-knuckle style sliders that you can either build for cheap (if you have the tools), or take to a fab shop. Had a local guy build me up a set here with some traction plate added to the top for really cheap.

I am asking for everyones opinion on the nerf bars, appearance aside. Is it better to remove the nerf bars even without having rock sliders to replace them yet? Thanks for you thoughts.

Knowing that if they are on they will increase the damage to the lower door and rocker panel, you take a chance each time you go off-road. Look at the scuff that you have on the rear quarter panel and then think if that had been the nerf bar instead.

I don't have sliders, my X didn't come with nerfs, but there is no way I'd put them on.

Thank you Brunnie. This is a valuable opinion and I would not like to have an expensive lesson like that.

When I stepped upon the nerf rail step thing [ at 218lb's ] I could feel slight flexing going on and my thought was what if one of my buddies close to my weight or more step on the same time as me ? Then I crawled underneath and saw they are attached to the body, I didn't want to crack the body panel or the paint and give rust a place to start that you don't check to often so off they came !! Plus it look's much Better, IMHFO ;)

Which sway bar? I removed the rear sway bar (and links) and my X feels a bit different, but you get used to it. I think you will find that a lot of us have removed the rear bar but few have removed the front bar or even recommend doing that.

As for weather stripping, from what I've seen in the JY, most of the weather stripping isn't in that bad of shape so try there first. You have a '13.... your weather stripping shouldn't be in that bad of shape.

I was thinking the front sway bar. The reason I was off-road this weekend and had my front passenger side tire off the ground. I thigh if it was removed it would give me more of an independent front suspension. I am very new to all pdf this so if that is the dumbest idea please forgive me.

As for the weather stripping, I had to use my X for uber for about 3 years (hence the 232000 miles) people slid in rubbing it and pulling it off. I pushed it back on and its working oof. just figured if it wasn't expensive I would replace it. Figured it would also quite it a little.

You will gain more by pulling the rear swaybar with the factory front suspension. We don't have a lot of travel in the front suspensions at OE width. Plus you'll have a dangerous amount of body roll with the OE spring rates in the front.

A lot of us have pulled the front bar off after we lift and upgrade to at least 600lb/in coils. I have no complaints about how mine handles without them but I have a lot heavier spring rates on all 4 corners.
