My 05 X is stuck in 4Lo, I turn the switch to 4HI and the symbol goes out and the 4WD light comes on! I ran the diagnostic procedure and get 1 long flash and 13 short flashes which lists "PNP switch signal" not sure where to go from here, sure could us some help with this if anyone has any ideas?

I have tried disconnecting the battery for 30 min and rolling back 20 feet and then trying to disengage with no luck so far! I disconnected the 4wd selector switch when doing some mods and drove 4 or 5 times, then when I went to wheel I hooked the switch back up, at first it would not go into 4hi or 4lo then it went into 4lo and now it won't switch back out!

Found this on a Frontier site.

Connect the selector switch and then leave it selected to 4L. Park, turn the key off, disconnect the negative battery cable, touch the negative cable to the positive, reconnect the battery, start it, foot on the brake, put it in neutral and select 4H or 2WD as you normally would. Lemme know if that works.

When you disconnected the switch and/or the battery, the computer lost track of the switches position. So make sure the switch is connected and selected to 4L before you begin.

Damn, I was hoping that would get it for you. Only other thing I can think to do is flat bed it to a dealer and have them check everything out with the Consult diagnostics system. You may have actually had a shift servo fail or something like that.

In the morning I'm going to remove the transfer case shifter mechanism control module (little black box on T-case) and disengage 4lo manually by rotating the shaft, I got this idea for thenewx.org! I will set the dial back to 2wd and turn the key, I sure hope this works, other wise it's the "flatbed" idea next!

O.K. I'm am out of 4LO after turning the T-case dial manually, unfortunately the 4WD light is on and I have no 4HI of 4LO! I will have to have the 4WD system checked out if I can't figure out whats wrong? The good news is,
I can still drive my X to the grocery store!
