Someone recently posted pics on where a Quest alt needed to be shaved down to fit. I need to find them so I can do mine ASAP!!! The X has been down for 2 weeks since I slipped a disk in my back. Feelin a little bit better so I'm trying to catch up on work...I really need your help here, can't find those d@mn pics.

I didn't have to shave mine down but maybe I just got lucky.

Thanks anyway...I just grounded down anywhere I thought might be in the way...fitted then.
If anyone does find the pics or the person that posted the pics reads this, could you post them here so they could be found easier if someone else searches...just a thought.

I know Soccerbrace or some one on CX had a few pix...

Not all of them need to be trimmed... If your stock one is working.. Id stick with it till it dies... These are such a pain to change out...

I have done 4+ alternator replacements, all Quest. Never had to shave anything down. You would think I could do it with my eyes closed by now.

I checked further...I should say I actually took the time to look into the problem correctly... Took the old alt to the local parts store and had them check it...it was fine. Took the Redtop back to them (since that's where I bought it) and had them check it too, it was at 65%. He recharged it for free. So something was shorting the battery... turns out to be the ABS sensors. They have been rubbing up against the rims and have worn down to the wires. By disconnecting them from the harness, no more shorting. The sensors are shot to hell and cost $155 each at the parts store. So as of now I have a new Quest alt installed, a working spare and disconnected ABS sensors that might cause the Cruise Control not to work... not bad for 6 hours of work on my back reaching up into Steena with these big azz hands into a small space... lol

Get the sensors from the savage yard. I know the place near me would go.. bits of wire and a sensor... give me $5.

Yeah it was me who said you had to shave or cut the alternator. I have pictures of the area you cut on my how to thread on CX. Maybe I'll get around to posting it here. I hit the oil filter adapter and the raised section on the alt wouldn't allow the bolts to line up.
