I just picked up a 2000 X for the wife a couple days ago, so joining to learn info. It needs a few interior pieces and then hopefully start a build thread. Any advice, tips and tricks are surely welcome. I'll be browsing the classifieds, how to's and other build threads to get some ideas, as I'm already trying to talk her into letting me lift it.

We all like pics so here they come... hopefully, lol.

Thanks....still learning my way around this joint but not new to forums so it will get easier. First thing I saw was a common problem with the timing belt if anyone has some insight on that, it would be much appreciated.
I'm looking for a driver's window control block (buttons broke, window no worky, passenger visor and driver's door handle surround piece is missing. Color is grey. After that, I'd like to upgrade the oem headlights to a projector retrofit if anyone has a reputable lead there.

Like to do something similar to my bike...

Welcome, we have a few members in MI. I used to live in Jackson for a few years. but up north of the big mac is one of my favorite places to try to get lost.

Got a good friend that just moved to a Detroit suburb. Did you ever get a chance to wheel camp grayling I have heard mixed reviews so I have never made it a goal. Still prefer the silver lake basin, mt arvin area myself.

We used to before they gated it off. We mainly ran the tank and logging trails out on the ranges. Mind you I haven't done any 4wheelin since 90'-'00's.

Hey welcome from Sylvan Lake, MI.

I had two 1st gens before, now I have a 2nd gen.

I did little mods to my first gen but Im a little familiar with this truck.

I have the rear cargo cover for my last 1st gen sitting around, let me know of you want it, you can have it.

Some easy mods that you can do are replace the air filter with a performance drop in filter, remove the bafflers (3), replace wheels with some aftermarket chevy/ford/toyota as they share the same lug pattern.

Thanks, man. Definitely interested in the cover. Didn't know that was even an option, lol. Maybe we can meet up one of these weekends and I'll buy ya a beer.
And thanks for the tips. I'll have to Google the bafflers mod to see what all that involves.

Sure thing, I will pull it from the basement and wipe it.

Removing the bafflers will give it a little better sound. We can do the seafoam treatment to clean the guts of the truck. It will smoke a lot.

That's awesome, man. Thanks again.
Looking to do some tinkering with the X today. Give it a real good look over. Would love to spray them ugly plastic pieces but 38 degrees may not agree.

Is there any good trails or 4x gatherings to hit around these parts? Only spots I know are Bundy and Silver Lake.

Yep, same boat here, want to paint the plastics.

There are not many off road places that I know here in Michigan, but UP trails and overland is nice. I think there is one off road in UP close to Newberry.

I think the closest real park is badlands in Indiana, been there once, it was fun. There are two runs that the GLX club organizes, one in late April and the other in late Oct/early Nov.

Also in Tennessee there is one huge NXM run in mid September.
