Hey folks, I just wanted to drop a quick post to introduce myself. Originally a hillbilly from West Virginia, I now reside in Delaware. I just bought my first Xterra this past weekend, a 2005 SE with 66k on it. It needs the fsu replaced but other than that all seems to be well. I have the parts ordered and will take care of that and the bypass as soon as they arrive.

Bought my Xterra primarily for a surf fishing vehicle here on the Delaware coast and because I have been jonesing for another 4x4 since getting rid of my Pathfinder about 10 years ago.

Wow 10 years is a long time to go without one, congrats on the new, and welcome

No kidding! The economics of my lengthly commutes over that period of time has been the deciding factor, but now I am back in a company truck so I could finally buy what I wanted without worrying much about MPG.

Being bone stock, it's not terribly exciting, but I am getting a LOT of ideas for future mods from looking around this forum and others.

I'm really looking forward to it. We just moved to Delaware over the Summer & that was the one and only thing that my son wanted to do - fish in the ocean, from the beach. We have done some fishing over the past couple of months, but being able to drive out on the beach will make it a much more enjoyable pastime. Delaware has several beaches reserved for surf fishing; $65 for a drive-on permit plate per year gets you onto them and into any state park.

Wow, impressively low mileage on an 2005. Congrats on your recent purchase!

Thanks, I was pretty happy to find it after months of searching. I was working a deal on an '06 with 69k when this one fell into my lap for about $1000 less.

Welcome to the Nation. Let me know if you ever need anything

Looking around, I am certain that I will be taking you up on that in the future! See comment #2 above.

Welcome to XN!

I also primarily wanted my first Xterra for driving on the beach to go surf fishing along the Gulf Coast. My 2wd X served me well for that, but being a member of this forum and others allowed to catch the bug. Now I have a 4wd in hopes of going after some off roading in other types of terrain.

I always wanted to go surf fishing on the East Coast. What kinds of fish do you guys catch off the beach in Delaware?

Just about anything except for the warm-water-only species like you would see down in the Gulf. Up here it is mainly Stripers, Blues, Flounder, Croakers & the like. Quite a few sharks come in too, but mostly sand sharks and smooth dogfish.

On another note, I actually know a girl in Houma; an ex-girlfriend from way back in my high school days.
