Exhaust System

Anyone have any problems with the exhaust system becoming lose? Just wondering because I have noticed a very loud rattle/clattering sound under certain parts of acceleration. I am starting to wonder if it is something internal because it never happens if I sit at idle and rev the engine, just while in gear and accelerating. Nissan, of course, cannot make the noise happen. I have notice parts of the exhaust clamps breaking due to age and I have been replacing as needed but just thought I would see if anyone else is having the same noise. If not, any idea what could be the problem with engine or possible heat shield covers as well

I would say it's the heat shield. Seems to be a common problem with our X's.

hm, good to know.. I am going to look tonight after work and see If i can tighten or something because with the sound, it just makes people think my car is falling apart and we all know that will never happen. lol

yeah thats entirely a possibility, the one near the rear axel seems like it could be mighty close in the even it was loose it would probably make noise

Do you have after market skid plates? The pipe from the driver side to the muffler was hitting the skid on mine and made an awful noise.
