Ivan REFUSES to engage into 4 wheel drive. I park, shift into 4H, the light comes on on the dash, I wait a few, then shift into drive. I then hear a clicking noise at about 5 mph, then about 10 its obnoxiously loud. So, I stop, try to go back into 2wd, and it wont shift INTO 2wd. I "shift" the shifter up, but the light is still on on the dash and the clicking noise is still there.

I have to coax him for about 10 more minutes JUST to get back into 2wd. Couldnt even get into 4wd.

What. Is. Wrong.

When I broke my front axle it started of as a ticking noise when I was moving in 4wd, then it got louder and LOUDER as I headed to the front of the Off Road park, by the time I came to a road that could be handled in 2WD I put it back in 2WD and the noise went away. But I had no problems shifting in or out of 4WD. the obvious signs (on the trail) for me was the torn CV boot, and then I could easily move the axle - which should not move at all by hand.
I found a local repair shop that replaced both front axles for $350...

Good luck...

I've tried everywhich way I know, and have even looked up different ways, to shift.

I've done all the neutral shifting, reversing, even put it in neutral and pushed him back a few feet (that was more out of frustration than anything).

None of it seems to work.

If it's just my hubs that'd be fantastic. If it's something else and more severe, I'll just crying right now gents.

All it takes in one hub to not work and no 4wd. With the truck in 2wd park, crawl under the truck and turn the front drive shaft by hand. After a few forward rotations you should hear a *click* and no longer be able to turn the front shaft with any kind of force even a prybar. If you can still turn the shaft and notice only one cv spinning backwards. The cv that is locked the hub is working fine. The cv that still turns has a bad hub.

Pull both locking hubs and put it in 4X4 if there is no noise than the transfer case is all good. as well as the front diff. Dont worry about hurting anything without having the hubs off.
