Creaking/Groan

Wheeling
I'm trying to make the steering system last while I stockpile goodies. But when I turn the steering wheel, I get a very pronounced creak from the front end. Got new upper and lower ballpoints, and I'll be drilling the idler arm to install a zerk fitting so I can easily grease it. Besides that, what else could cause that noise in the steering? I also have new TRE's...

You probably already pinpointed the issue. No lube. Spray the UCA fittings with some deep creep. I have this issue every time i give my truck a bath, even though i know there is grease in there. For some strange reason she likes to have mud to stop the creaking. But if I can't get out to play to get it to go away I spray some deep creep in there and Boom... sound is gone.

Another common spot for the X to creak while turning is lower ballpoints. If you have non greasable joints, there is a syringe style greaser you can get to inject grease through the rubber dust boot, but put a dab of silicone on the injection point to make sure water doesn't get in behind it.
