I just wired up my PIAA fog lights (520 ATP extreme white) and now the factory headlights just aren't cutting. I'm not ready to do an HID retrofit or one of the plug & play kits thats going to get me pulled over (my window tint already does a good enough job of that) :D.

Anyways, I went in autozone and looked at sylvania halogens but the other night I found these
PIAA extreme white plus lite bulbs
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PIA-19617

anybody have an experience with a good set, basically I want to do away with the yellow look of the factory lights and go to more of a white color

thanx

well.....all I can tell you is that if you're gonna drop $80 on a pair of replacement bulbs have fun, silverstar ultras are $50 and they're *TOO BRIGHT* unless you live in a primarily rural area. I had em in a 95 maxima and had street sign glare like I only get if I kick my rooftop lights on in the X....

oh, here ya go by the way... amazon has them for under $60

I have the PIAA bulbs. They are awesome. Much brighter than Silverstars. I was never really impressed with the Silverstars at all.

brighter than silverstars or silverstar ultras? the ultras were the ones that I thought were WAY too bright....I ended up replacing them with regular silverstars and was happy with them, could I have used a little more light? yes. but, the ultras were terrible....I ended up trying to aim them down enough that I could use them and couldn't get them adjusted enough to not have glare off of a stop sign 6 houses away.

I have silver star ultras in 4 vehicles w/o any issues. Ranging from 4 to 6 yrs of use w/o any failures.

Hear some people complain about short lamp life, but I can't help but think they've touched the bulb with bare hands while installing.

I ran Silverstar Ultras for a year prior to doing my retro fit and they were much better than stock...but when you are ready to do the retro fit you will be blown away

I ordered the PIAA bulbs off of amazon last night, all total got out for $64.32 and should be here by the end of the week.

I'll keep you guys updated, thanx for the input

if you're talking about the HID conversion on the headlights, lets not start that argument over here too

unless you change the housings out to ones that have proper HID projectors, HID conversion is **ILLEGAL**. If you'd really like the debate, it's going on over at TNX and is a rather drawn out arguement in which lots of people rationalize it with "well, I can see much better with them so it's safer and I have them aimed low enough that they don't blind other drivers" but it boils down to "the US Department of Transportation has said and maintains that installation of HID kits in halogen housings is illegal, period."

Good to know. I've always had the Ultra's in my vehicles but that price isn't too far off from a double pack of the Sylvania's. I'm def interested.

I have projectors in my housing btw...thats what I meant by HID retrofit. I was in no way starting a debate, not really sure where you got that from my post anyways.. I hate when people stick HIDs in reflector housings as much as anyone

I didn't get it from your post, I was pre-empting anyone else starting it since you mentioned HID's ;)

good to hear that you've modded yours...do you have pics? I've never seen a 1st gen with projectors...do you have hi and low beams or just low?

I feel ya I get tired of the people who say its okay since no one has flashed their lights at them so it must be fine. I have a couple pics in my build. They are Bi-Xenon projectors. Il start a separate thread with some info on them so people interested know what exactly it all entails
