Auto hub Reinstall Trouble

I was replacing the auto hub mechanism today ( the part with the springs and plastic) and I ran into a problem on one side. The CV shaft isn't sticking out far enough on the drivers side to install the snap ring and hold everything in place. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help. I'm just trying to get ready for the winter, I could get snow this week.

Not sure how much SL you have but when you lift it, it increases the CV axle angle. Which pulls the shaft in towards the vehicle.

Your best bet is like what Mr. Church said.. Place a jack under your LCA and jack it up. This will lessen the angle of the CV axle and should give you enough room to get that snap ring in there.

Pull the cv towards you..
I mean grab the axle I between the motor and the hub.. Pull it out towards you.. It will give you some room to get the snap ring backbit

another vote for pulling it towards you. Might be good to have an extra set of hands if you can. have one person working the snap ring and another pulling it. I have heard of people not being able to get them pulled out far enough and just leaving them off, but that just seems like a good way to bust a hub.

I went without a snap ring for a while and a few months later, I replaced my hubs.

Not saying it had something to do with it, but I don't know so it may have haha. Overall not a good idea.

Last time I had to do mine I had to grab the axle behind the knuckle and bull it back toward the engine a little and kind of slam it into place to get it far enough through for the snap ring to go on.
