Advice: Adding Side Turn Signals

Looking for some advice on how best to add side turn markers to the X. I deal with some decent rush hour commuting on my drive into work. Lots of weavers. I am religious about using my turn signals - yet without side markers I feel I am not as visible as I could be.

I'm looking to add some simple lights to the X to cover this gap. Mostly to guard against side-swipes. I want my side to be more visible to someone that's planning on moving into the same lane as me and can't see my rear blinker.

CroftonBilly has a nice write up @ the newx. http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48491 I like those lights, but feel the placement is rather low.

Ramness, has a nice idea on placement and I may put CroftonBilly's smaller lights into that area. Ramness's photo: http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21513&page=9

Alternatively I may run these: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Universal-14-LED-Turn-Signal-Arrow-Lights-p/led-sku331.htm They certainly up the "cool" factor, though I am unsure how visible they will be for what I'm looking for. (Side visibility)

Lastly I may bite the bullet and go the route 1NonlyX has with dedicated fender mounts: http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/bou1991/2011-02-15_13-39-02_193.jpg (I dont care about drilling into the fender, its the $50 price for the Honda Pilot lights + buying Honda plugs that annoys me.)

I feel that in the mirror housing or the fender are the best placements. Thoughts XN?

Thanks!

Look around on the web for "euro side marker" (ebay etc...). There are tons of styles that are very reasonably priced. Also, if you wire them correctly, they can be a side marker and a blinker with a single element incandescent bulb (not led). You can do it similar with leds, but you have to add some steering diodes and resistors.

I like this idea, but, if I'm going to do it, I want the style that illuminates where you're about to turn as well as being a blinker on the side of the vehicle....
