First Fill-Up (of many)
I didn't me to sound like I was calling you stingy if that's how you took it. I just meant it could be vital information for the people in the future

I didn't take it that way, I was trying to say that I will give out any information about my Xterra that I can to help others get to where they wanna be. That's the way it was meant, I remember when I first started out I was blowing everyone up trying to get Information, and some people wouldn't give me the time of day and all they said was "use the search function" and others would actually help. I don't want to be one of those unhelpful (useless) people that don't want to help people out. That's why I said I will give out all the information I have to whom ever asks for it.

Regarding your concern with CV angles, have you checked out rcv cv shafts for ifs? Buddy runs a set in his tacoma and hasn't blown up a set yet on 37" tires, he used to blow up one or two every trip out now he goes out without worrying now. Another thing, mounting your rear shocks like that will give you a little more body roll and less shock absorption for on road traveling. I plan to mount mine through the floor like that if I keep my leaf springs or go to coils instead coilovers. Just a heads up so you know if you didn't already. Nice build by the way.

I've been looking into RCV but they are very expensive, so well have to see. As for the shocks the Xterra is just a toy and not a daily driver so road manners are less of a concern to me, I can lean on offroad performance more than anything else. I trailer her if we go any further than a hour away.

While I'm working on the back I'm thinking about replacing the shackle hangers with the Ballistic Fab flexible hangers. I just want to know why they don't recommend them on the street, if anyone knows?

Don't use ballistic fab unless you want to wait 2 months. If you want to use something more flexible for the rear find yourself a set of revolvers just know that they unload going down hill and cause a horrible amount of wheel hop.

Dang, I wish you hadn't told me that. I wonder who else makes a JohnnyJoint with a weld able sleeve, that I can use instead of BF.

I don't know if Artec carries them but they actually are some of ballistic fab's ex employees that were tired of the BS and they have great customer service and products, you may also want to check out ruff stuff, currie, and swag offroad.

Well after getting pulled over the other day I had todo some modding to keep us legal. I had to relocate my rear license plate. So while I was doing that I might as well do something I wanted todo and this is what I ended up with...

When the rear shelf is loaded up the wimpy overhead light doesn't make it under it, so I added 4 little LED pods.

After the rear lights I had two pods left over so they got mounted to in each footwell upfront, no more black hole at night.

The reason I got pulled over originally was my license plate light was out, after that we went on to tell me that he couldn't see all of my plate that it was partially covered and need to be relocated. Yet in the 3 yrs I've had a tire carrier I've never had trouble. Then after all that he said " looks like y'all have been off roading". I just a little. Lol

I wish the passenger lights was more defused light the driver side, so you don't see that halo around it. I think a scotch bright on the lens will help that.

It always makes me happy to see another 05 out getting the ish wheeled out of it. :)

I like the direction you are going with your build and looking forward to see how it goes.

These are not all from the same day, really just some random shots. But just something to show off I guess.

Let me just say its a good thing for ballistic nylon seat covers. My a$$ was really tearing up that seat! The cool thing was we were able to drive out of it too, we didn't ever loose traction!

We are headed back to that park in the morning so I'm sure to have some more awesome pictures!

And the tear down begins:

After all the tear down here's what we came up with:
duju4u3a.jpg

By the end of the day the newish front diff (M205) was installed, now it's a waiting game for the CV's, gears and hardware to arrive, and the new BullyDog tuner.

In my down time I am also working on relocating the vapor canister to try and protect it a little better. My idea is to remove the mounting bracket and drill new mounting holes 2.5" lower to raise the canister that much higher.

A couple more pictures of the tear down. Hopefully parts will be arriving Monday and Tuesday:

Here is the BullyDog Tuner as well:

And finally the install of the backup camera:

And of course the motivation behind all the work... And it's not the beer in the foreground...
