IF, I get this truck bought. I'm know SAS. But I don't like my gear ratio options. Dana 44 gear ratios are 5.13 max for the high pinion. Low pinion goes to 5.38 & 5.89.

The H233B...the only matching ratios are 5.13 and 5.89. 5.13 isn't really enough for 35s. 5.89 is overkill even for 37s. I need 5.38s. But that ratio doesn't exist for the H233B.

So then do I just do a D60/Sterling and say ufck the Hitachi axle? That seems like overkill too.

I was running 5:13 with 35/36 with a 5 spd and stock t case for a long time and I really didnt have issues with it other than in step rock sections. Then stepped up to the 4:1 t case gears and 37's. I dont think I would want lower than that. It still drives nice on the street and I tow a trailer with it also. Just my opinion based on how mine is set up.

Ford hp dana 44 with a matching 9"

Yeah. I didn't think about the T-Case gears. What was your highway RPMs in 5th on the 35s and 5.13s?

If you're going tons, just stick with your 2nd Gen.

Now, this is my opinion.

SAS and stock with 33s and 5.13s. 33s on a SFA rig is plenty capable double locked, especially a narrow rig like a 1st Gen. Also, 33s are cheaper for a DD'd rig as well.

Is it as awe inspiring? No. Will it be capable? Yes.

You're a not wrong. The only reason I'm thinking 35s is that I did 33s on the last one and I want bigger but it'd take time to get there. 33s and 4.9s was completely streetable. With t-case gears, that's not a concern. Math says that 35s and 5.13s is about the same as 33s and 4.9s. The only reason to bump to 5.38s is that it gets it in the 4.6 effective range which makes the speedo accurate.

I imagine supercharger whine through a snorkel.
I get the appeal, but silver slut was supercharged and has gone through several owners since I had it because nobody wants to replace that knock sensor that keeps you from registering it (cel)
