I got an oil change and filled up my gas tank for my 2003 Xterra. I added half a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer with the oil change because it's at 300,000. It was amusing to be at the gas station with my Gen 1 Xterra parked next to a Gen 2. Most Gen 2 owners seemed to think they had a better car. They didn't realize that I have a Gen 2 at home myself. Gen 2s have more power and are better on long road trips. Going to work and bombing around town, I do prefer my Gen1. Both are simple, but Gen 1 is super simple, and the layout is friendlier.
This is the way! I love my Gen 2 Frontier. It's a comfy daily, that's great on long trips.

But I'd rather drive the 03 off road.

place foot on brake.. No key turn.. Nadda.
Check shifter, Make sure in Park. GOOD.
In Flat Parking lot.. no Gravity stress..
ugh.. fiddle fiddle. Some how it fixed itself.. ODD?..
not sure why... Steering wheel Lock Pressure?.

Did check my key to make sure no Burr's, or stuck gummy Bears on key...

This morning and evening.. No issues.. just that one time.. Now, got's me baffled why..

Did not wiggle Steering wheel.. now that I think about it.. I should have also wiggled steering wheel as another check point.

They are the best freedom birds, I mean sure the USAF Thunderbird are good. But those losers land on a airstrip thats 4 times longer then whats needed and doesn't move. The Blue Angels pilot cut their teeth landing on a 400' rolling, pitching boat that also going 30 MPH.
While all that is true...... at least the Thunderbirds aren't hookers. ;) :p

Ordered the other 5 coils for the X this evening. That was a chunk of change. I went with NGK. 3yr warranty on the VS 1 year on Hitachi. All 6 will match. And they have NGK written on top of them because I'm 12....

Mine was $212 during the Black Friday Rip Off Event. YMMV!!! Also, the socket head cap screws should be 3/4" instead of the existing 5/8" Dave used. Oh, yeah... they ARE made with titanium, stainless and aluminum, so they CAN handle water better than the old ones. :)

Performed the throttle body idle relearn procedure and cleared the P0507 code. Now on to changing the power steering fluid.

The regular ones he uses are around $80 each on a bulk purchase discount.

He's now working on getting a bulk rate for the E3's because the original's build quality has dropped since pandemic. poorer material quality and quicker rust (for us in salt belt) deterioration. My latch pins wore out in about a year. Anyone who plans to replace theirs with the original Southco latches should be aware. E3's are definitely built solid, and the spring lock pin is actually not too bad. I can even unlatch with one hand using my thumb on the ring. Time will tell on durability though with N.E. winter usage.

Noticed the other day, While stopped at Red light.. Heater Vent air flow Temp dropped! . But returned hot again, when Driving off. hmm.. Either pump going out? Or just low on Coolant..
Today Checked coolant. The Reserve looked just under Half. Added Cup or two of the Green/Water goo. Checked main Radiator, could see the Alum cell's. Looked low.
added some More.. As not to over fill it....

We shall See monday, if temps remain steady.

The problem is the small hose that runs under the fuse box gets an air bubble and won't allow flow.

This will help:
1. Pinch de-gass bottle hose off top of radiator closed
2. Squeeze top radiator hose
3. Unpinch de-gassing bottle line from radiator, pinch small hose off top of heater tee closed.
4. Release top radiator hose
5. Repeat till you feel like the hose under the fuse box is properly purged.

I'm aware.

My statement was to show that $250 just isn't that much compared to the Southco shiat that's been available.

Mine is rusted to hell and back. The one I had on my 1st Gen didn't rust at all.

Oil change, before taking a trip, both diffs serviced, rear diff cover removed and potential rust problem taken care of (which also got rid of minor water seepage into the diff) AND new connector for MAF sensor. I had been getting P0101 errors almost every 2-3 days. No vacuum leaks, new Hitachi sensor, so connector was prime suspect confirmed by shop.

Now waiting on Xterra Christmas gifts to arrive........

Tires Rotated, Front to back back to front.. Check PSI.. 82.5 PSI? WTF.. test again. 68.00 PSI.. Grab another gauge. 33.5. Confirmed with another gauge.

Dam Electronic Crap. Tossed Digital to the side.. Finished up tires.. for grins, grabbed the Digital gauge that was sitting for 30 minutes.. Now shows correct pressure. Hmmm.. Gonna Install new batteries.

If still shows Odd readings.??. Deep 6, the dam thing!!. Use Old school pressure gauge works best!.
Need no stink-in Batteries!!.

not a damn thing, soon as the title gets here I'll go put a power steering line on, pray I have the skid plate you remove to get to the oil filter in the shop somewhere, get the windshield replaced, get some tires put on those methods and register it
