First Fill-Up (of many)
Did some tank work, you know the big holes they put in tanks to drain them? Well, I had to patch one for my $20 tank.
Starts of the patch, next was the fun compound angle.

No problem!

Then I got it all mounted up. Yay!

Also made some engine mounts for the buggy.

Now the fun stuff comes, me and buddy have been designing cages for all our vehicles, a Jeep Cherokee exo and interior cage, don't mind all the points touching, that's just to get an idea of where tubing will go.

Then, we got creative,

Hmm, the start to a basic xterra cage? :D

Also for everyone watching KOH this week through the live streams, this Throwback Mtn Dew is for you!

Yep, everything is wired on the fuel pump side, right now. Posting up pics of progress. Found a buddy up in jacksonville, fl that cut a tx10 and isn't going to use it, going to go grab it friday, tigging it saturday a buddy's shop and installing sunday so I can cut trans crossmember and get 4wd!

Fuel pump adaption. If anyone needs an xterra sending unit I'd be happy to mail them one for cost of mail. It doesn't have the corroding on it, only if you truely need it though.

Cross member painted up, ran out of black and had plenty of purple, it'll be fine.

Gas tank up.

While sitting under there welding I just happened to look forward and saw this beauty.

Also an update on the buggy I'm building, dana 60 35 spline grizzly came in, I want one. It's pure beef and heavy as all heck.

SASXA, on your support brackets for the transfer case are you using 1" square tube? Just thinking for strength is this going to be strong enough and is the wall thickness big enough. I am sure you made it strong but looking from pictures its really hard to tell. Was it possible to use 2" square pipe, 1/4" wall thickness? Lookin good. Actually you inspired me to look for a transfer case so I got one as you can see from my build thread. Next years project.

SASXA

It's actually 1.5" 1/4 square tube. This is temp set-up till I get bored and annoyed and buy a real doubler. Then I'll do it all over again, till that day this should be plenty strong. Axle tubes are actually desert sand colored. I like being different with things and the all black everything on axles just isn't my thing. So, Orange caliper brackets, sand tubes, black pumpkin.

Well, my boredom got the best of me, I picked up an abandoned project from a buddy today.. It's actually going to be like $400 in work, maybe a little less if my buddy cuts me a deal. Also, got a surprise coming up, let's just say my ugly bumper shall be leaving.
A milled case, ready for an adapter plate to run whatever transfercase I want, got a company that will cut and respline the shaft for $150, going to run a married 205 behind it. The plans aren't 100% but I have a drawing I'm working on using all bolt holes on 205 and the tx10 crawl box. Should be a fun project on the side while I wheel. Get everything done before I actually take my rig apart this time.

First Fill-Up (of many)
No work has been done on the new doubler set-up besides the divorced 205 was taken out, I've gained 4 linking abilities and my rig was down a few months for no reason other than a cool new tank and 2 awesome looking shifters.
Also, I'll be playing with the trans pan mod so I can quit losing power on steep inclines.

She runs! Tomorrow she'll drive!

Also, doing this trans pan mod.

That looks great! I really like that transmission pan mod too but I haven't heard of people losing power on steep inclines... might be something to watch out for I guess. So when is the 4 link going to start? ;)

Small update, nothing too big.
Tank cover made.

Clearanced

Painted

And Covered! Boom done! Not many pics sorry.

Then I went wheeling in ocala. Only pic from the trip other than some pics other took of me and I have no idea who took any pictures so non of me wheeling. Sorry.

Buddy broke his Dana 44 RCV shaft.

Spent a night in the shop cleaning and making cardboard adapter plates.

Went wheeling kind of in 2wd, tore up the entrance to a small local wheeling spot so kids would get stuck easier.

Then a bath! :D

And theeeeeen. I made a driveshaft from spare parts!
Before and After

Before, then after.

Then final weld and grinding!

The finished product minus cheap u joints just to see if it'll work.

That's pretty much it till I make a run to Ocala again to drop off my adapter templates to a buddy with a cnc to cut out for me.

Nice! That cargo area turned out great; I was afraid it would end up being unuseable with that tank sticking up like that.

Now, when you do the doubled up t-cases, will this make your driveshaft angle at droop pretty steep and susceptible to binding up? I know there is a guy on pirate that built a tx-10 to tx-10 adapter plate, and I though about going that route, but am worried about the shorter driveshaft with the increased angle. I know the 205 you are using is shorter than the tx-10, so that will definitely help.

SASXA

First Fill-Up (of many)
Angles shouldn't be too bad the rear driveshaft will be 6-8" shorter and front will be 6-8" longer. I've actually changed my driveshaft design for the front right now with the current tx10 set-up, the one I just built I can't get enough angle out of it, only 19* and only got 17* out of the yoke at the t case engine. Now I'm running at 35-36* at driveshaft and 40ish constant on the t case yoke.

Well, it's been a while. I've done close to zero mods, but have done a lot of prep and some wheeling. Last update was driveshafts, well that single u joint, didn't work very well, I broke it, then I made another double cardan driveshaft, that one worked well, lasted 3 hours, since I was only an hour away I went home and rebuilt it again and then it worked well, it may be broke again, I haven't wheeled in 4 wheel drive since.

Lets start out with bajaing. Only picture of the wheeling trip, after I got home.

This was a spur of the moment I'm already 3 hours from home, let's go wheel a little.

Now let's get to the fun!
Single u joint driveshaft didn't work.

I also rub a lot still... and this is straight, when I turned I trashed everything, I'll be cutting a lot from the body next. I like where the front axle is.

Starting doubler templates,

This one still needs to be made.

Then I dressed up the tx10 plate.

2 pieces of 3/8" Steel should work out as a cover, if I didn't have a milled case I could go with one, but I would also be having shifter problems.

Then I set it up onto my divorced case to see how it would sit with the shifter, it's not good.

Here's the problem, I think I should be able to make it work though, I have a certain determination to make things work, I should have 1/8" clearance between plates and shifter after I've extended the adapter 1.25" with a piece of DOM.

And a little update of the jeep buggy.

Rear suspension is done minus top mounts for the upper links.

JMac, that ride height wouldn't be ideal but it would be nice to have for crawling, but since I do a lot of higher speed dirt roads I'd have to be taller than that. My current ride height from tire to bottom of the uncut fender is roughly 7.5"-8" right now. I'll get some pics uploaded when they've been uploaded to photobucket.

Well, update on the Unicorn, she runs, drives, and has been on daily driver status. But I never posted up any updates on the doubler or shock towers.

I wanted the rig lower but didn't want to change the track bar set-up until I found a 60 and 3 linked so I modified the calmini towers.

Travel at ride height. I like it! I haven't jumped since changing it but it feels pretty good going over a few bumps at an excessive speed.

I'm going to need to stretch the front when I do the 60, this shock tower to brake booster gap is pretty slim.

And then! I found my power loss issue..

This doesn't look good.

I also started back up on the doubler. I'm sure a few people would like to see these pictures.

That's it for now, I'll continue to update as the doubler plates are made and fitted.

I know it's been a while, but I've figured out that I need some nitrous, a dana 60 and a doubler and to stay with the cold A/C, hot heat and enclosed cab (for now). I've been doing some work recently, I built a cage for a jeep in trade for a Super Duty Dana 60, that'll get the UB's drilled for 8x6.5 to match the rear 14 bolt, 44 will be getting sold once the current jeep buggy is gone and I have room to take apart the front end and, I'll finally buy the shaft for the doubler to put it together finally since it's 95% complete, just needs a shaft made and to be bolted in.
Dana 60! Woo!

And the jeep cage I built that got me this axle.

This right here, this side fully broke and the other side was actually cracked under the powder coating, the brackets are a huge pain in the ass and the single shear track bar is sketchy.

Yeah, sorry about that, it wasn't that great of a design, and my photos all got moved inside photobucket so everything is likely messed up, but here's this. New 16" Coilovers for the rear 4 link, still gotta figure out how to get a set of 14's for the front.
