There will be lots of cutting. I'm going to eliminate most of the raised circle on the Nissan shroud, as well as the protruding part of the taurus fan. Couple of bolts and a gob of silicone

ahh ok, I was thinking you could cut the taurus fan shroud right around the outside of the circle. and use bolts and spacers to fasten it to the inside of the Nissan shroud raised circle. But could not figure out a way to fill in the gap around it unless you cut a Plexiglas donut for the space between.

It would be so nice if they would just make them normal shapes and without all these corners and raises and such.

How close is the back of the fan to the front of the engine?

Instead of using bolts to attach the 2 pieces together, you could try pop rivets. I used them to attach brackets to the taurus fan in my dodge (and will use on the xterra fan once I get to it haha)

I thought about rivets, but I feel like I'd need something more substantial holding the two together. I'll play with it tonight.

A stainless steel rivet with stainless mandrel will be incredibly sufficient. I had to do a shear load study on them at my last job for airbag inflators.

In the end, I think the nuts and bolts (or however I fasten the two pieces) Wil merely hold it in place. Because I forsee lots of fiberglass resin making one solid shroud.

So I had some time this morning. I used the "through the radiator" type zip ties to hold the two pieces together.

Also finished trimming the stock shroud so everything sits nice and flat.

Stopped at AutoZone on the way home and picked up some fiberglass mat and resin. Time to see if I'm any good at this.

Note to self. Make resin in smaller batches. I tried to split the bottle, but it still hardened up before I could use it all. Picture is the second layer.

What I found to work best was to get a pack of the cheapest paintbrushs you can get and used those. Canadian Tire has like a 5-pack, and threw them out after each use. It makes applying and working the resin into the fiberglass much easier, especially to take out the airbubbles in the cloth or to move and work fiberglass mat around if you plan to work with that as well to reinforce some parts.

Layer 2 of glass on the back. Need to let that cure, the flip it and glass the inside.

It's kind of lumpy in spots, but nothing that sanding and painting won't hide.

When it's 100+ in the garage and I have to stand there and deal with fiberglass. Nah. Nah.

It's almost done though. Might make some headway this weekend.

Baby is due first week of October. So just about a WENT baby.

And I just realized I need another bead of glass on one of the seams. But it'll be done soon.

A little heavy. I wonder if that's going to be an issue.

Weight may be an issue. The lower radiator tank is what carries that weight. Still has to be lighter than my twin fan setup I have though.

Looks to be going quite well. And using the factory shroud should actually pull air better.
